I am visiting my family for a few days and my dad has a shop with cnc mills. I was thinking of designing and making my own front pulley cover but don't have my bike with me to measure. Has anyone fabricated their own before? |

I'll go take some measurement for you... |

Ok, I hope this helps! I took the cover off so you could also see how the standoffs are, and to give you an idea of how much clearance might be needed back there. If you are making one out of flat stock, than those measurements I guess don't matter right now, but I thought that at least you'd have an idea of what the stock part looks like both on and off the bike...since you don't have your bike with you!
In this pic, I give you the measurements of the distance from a line drawn from the center of the rear bolt hole across the the center of the rear 1/2 of the pulley (all measurements taken from the center of the bolt holes, even if my lines drawn on the pics don't appear so!):
This is all on my '03 XB9S. |

Thanks so much Andy! That is a huge help. You really went out of your way! Hopefully I can draw something up. |

Hey, what happened to your screenshots? did I travel back in time, or are posts being deleted? |

Haha, BadWeb had some issues over the weekend. It was down most of Saturday and part of Sunday. It appears that all posts made during the down time are gone. |

Definitely curious to see what you made! I hope the cover is not too open. If you get your jeans or shoe laces caught in there... yikes! I've heard of Harley engines ripping people's jeans off which would be the best case scenario! |

I like the "XB" one. Right now I'm working on some billet shift levers, and a billet R. brake pedal that rides on bearings. I'll be watching this thread too. Nice work!!! |

Here it is mounted. I had to use some nylon spacers and longer bolts but it turned out well. I am going to paint the cover black and the inner pulley orange later. I will probably make 5 more in a few weeks and put them up on ebay with bolts and spacers so I will let you guys know.

I liked the odd star shaped looking one a bit better. I'd be a little worried about that being too open and catching my toe in it. Never the less, I wish I had your milling machine! |

Very nice. I wonder what that 'XB' design would look like? I wish I had your milling machine too. And your knowledge and skill to use it |

Ya I had a hard time choosing. I ended up choosing that one because of the number of tool changes, wear on cutters, etc. And its not as open as it might look, the distance between bars is only 1.25 inches I believe. Like I said next time I am back to the milling machine I will make a few more and see how they sell. I don't think I can on here though. I am quite surprised no one has made one until now just for themselves! I guess it takes the youngest one of the bunch to take care of business Oh and finished pics with paint coming tomorrow.
