And damn it if it wasn't me.... I don't know what happened... I was accelerating up the street, next thing I know the bike is diving down and i'm sliding up the street. Up until the point where I hit a traffic island kerb with my hip. other than severe brusing to said hip, and both feet where I guess I slammed the road, I'm not too bad... now... i know tomorrow will a different story. i think the bike will be written off - whaddya think??? Ride safe guys............ |

justin, i just read your quote: do something that scares you once in a while. this should fill your quota for a bit. a couple of times when i hit the pavement real hard, it took a couple weeks for the accident details to filter back into memory. i did not know what happened right away. i guess its late night there right now, but it would be cool to get a friend to go check out the scene, report on road condition, skid marks, oil/diesel spill, etc. sounds like you may have spun out and slid the rear?? good luck, heal fast. dean |

Fess up, you were ogling some sheila. Wow, I guess that tank damage allays any fears of fuel leakage and subsequent bursting into flames. Glad you are relatively unscathed. So what did she look like and what was she wearing? |

Glad you are ok. I, too, am fascinated with the integrity of the frame. It's proving to be all it was represented to be. Heal quick. Court |

Frame integrity... I remember a lot of conversations about how they would hold up in wreck. I'm amazed by how well that frame held up without a leak, another proof of Buell engineering. Glad to hear you weren't banged up too bad. I guarantee you'll be sore tomorrow, I had some 'sever' bruising after my encounter with a tow truck in Detroit, hopped around for a bit after that. It'll swell like crazy at first, but goes away in time to repair the bike ( a month, in my case) Get well soon, get her back on the road! Alex |

Trusty748 Just curious. what is all that orange stuff all over mirror and frame. I also see some of it on the impact zone of the swing arm. Were you riding on a dirty road? Hope the bruises heal quickly |

Hey man.. Good to hear that your not too seriously hurt.. ON the other hand, the bike is looking like it took the brunt of the 'hurt'.. Keep us updated on how you are.. and how the bike is. In the mean time.. Heal up and get back on as soon as your able (as soon as the bike is able as well..) Later,

Unfortunately, speaking from experience, that bike's a write-off. Replacing the frame along with the ancillaries brings the repair job up to 3/4 the value of the bike. Hey, I'm gettin the feeling that these things are extremely unforgiving if you've got the suspension set up wrong. Those of us coming off of jap bikes need to set our Buells on the soft end & work our way in. I followed the midline setup and I'm feelin like I made a big mistake... |

cheers for the comments guys. the doc sent me for xrays on hip and feet - nothin broke but mighty bruised. the orange markings are just some local dust. the road was sealed but my baby slid off the road onto the shoulder - hence the orange gravel dust. i also have a souvenir piece of back rim - approx the size of my hand! it just shattered.... yes - i ogle like a bastard - but not at 11pm at night and not in the hills.... A Saturday arvo (or Sunday for that matter) along the coast - wild bikinis as far as the eye can see!!! And yep - the frame is incredible. held up well - and so it should! also my dainese leather jacket did its job well, as did my shark helmet and alpine star gloves. more pics for your viewing pleasure (or cringe value).... edited by blake on March 24, 2004 |

Soooo, will your new bike be a 9 or a 12? Ride to the edge! Dave Iowa HD/Buell (Buell Cycle Center) |

out of budget for both I'm afraid. there are no second hand xbs available, and I can't cover the cost of a new 9 or 12 when you include all the extra costs (a higher insurance premium for example).... not in the short term anyway. And yes- she has been written off. |
