For those of you who use the harley oil and trans fluid, do you change the oil every 5000 miles? That seems like a long time in between oil changes. For others who use a different combo of fluids, do you follow the service manual or change the oil every 3000 or so miles? Thanks, Nick |

I use Amsoil and change the engine oil, tranny oil, and oil filter every 3000 miles. I agree that changing it every 5000 miles seems excessive, but if you do the math, an XB12 uses about 2 quarts of engine oil per liter of engine displacement, while many cars use only 1-1.5 quarts per liter. With that in your head you can imagine why Buell oil might last longer than car oil. However the Buell engine is probably going to be run harder at higher RPM's than the average car. It's really up to you, you can't go wrong with 3-5k mile intervals. |

H-D Screaming Eagle and I change every 3000. Same on my car, but the KLR gets it every 2000. Thumpers can beat the oil to death and I use Dino oil in it Oil's cheap. Filter are bad either. But motors are a bit pricey! |

Mine dosen't burn a drop, and still looks pretty good as it comes out on 5k intervals. |
