Anyone know yet if the 2010 RSS fits older XB's? If it doesn't what does it take to put it on? My bike is specifically an 05 XB12Scg. Thanks! |

Are y'all only ordering the scoop? I want the entire setup for my Firebolt. If you look in the thread linked to above then you can see the breakdown of the complete Uly comfort kit. it is quite a bit more than just the scoop. |

Somebody needs to see if the Uly scoop will fit a standard XB. |

Why fit a Uly scoop to an XB when you can order the scoop for your XB off the '10 parts? Unless you HAVE to have the ULY scoop. |

The uly scoop is bigger. I just hope it fits when one of the designated guinea pigs gets theres so I can order the set also. Please great motorcycle gods let the new parts fit my old bike so I don't have to buy a new xb........ Not that that would be a bad thing:-) |

So the shrouds are different sizes according to what the bottom of that page says. Hopefully the bolts that attach it to the bike are in the same spot. |

Joel9: what was the part number? $26 sounds better than $119. Hoping you'll post some pics tomorrow... |

All the kits are for various Ulysses models. From the 2010 accessories catalog:

Is the engine bay of the Uly different than the Ss? I notice more heat on the left side than the right...? ~SM |

The kits will not fit, as it has several Ulysses specific parts. You could get it, but you would be wasting your money. Your best bet is to buy the individual pieces (2 scoops and header shield?). |

Yea, I would buy the scoop parts, the header shield, and then fab up some simple ducting for the fan. Removing the seat on my Firebolt, I was able to see how alot of the air gets pushed up into that area. Creating a simple deflector shouldn't be all that hard. |

Hey I have it on my XB12Stt and it all fit, well I have to install the fan duct this week end BUT i've looked hard and it should fit. I agree in that I don't think the kit will fit a XB9s, XB12s or XB12r BUT the XB12Stt and XB12Ss have the same front frame as the Uly so the scoop bolted right on. The header pipe cover took a screw driver and BAM it was on. Now that fan duct is going to be a bear as I'll have to pull the under seat pan, battery and battery hold down, ECM, Relay rack. Then break the shock remote free and move a mess of wiring to get the duct in. After it's in I may not be able to get at the the pre-loader on the shock spring. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it though. BUT the instruction for the Uly don't look much easier. I did a little ride after work and there is a noticeable difference with just the two parts I have bolted on. Before at 70 mph I had 5 mins before the fan was on and my leg was cooking after 30 mins. NOW the fan only came on after I stopped and while I could still feel the motor heat it was nowhere near as bad as before. My fan would run when it was in the 50s so it being in the upper 70s today I am please to say the least. Here's a link to a few photos of what I have done and I'll post more of the fan duct install this week in. BTW I can never get Buell parts in a hurry from my dealer...I ordered the kit last Friday around 5:00 and I got a call yesterday that it was in! Now THAT'S service!! Photos sorry the bikes dirty. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v87/MarkN/Buell/ |

Ok...now I feel the idiot. I had assumed ALL the '10 bikes (XBs) came with this kit installed... so even if Buell doesn't make the rider comfort kit for the Lightening etc, then we would be able to order the fictional "new scoop" and slap it on... So the next question *and hopefully more informed now...sorry* would be, when are rider comfort kits for the REST of the XBs coming out? That would make sense right? |

All 2010 XB's have a RSS scoop, just smaller than the Uly one. Keep an eye on these threads in the next few weeks for details and pics. |

Alrighty, I'm going to stand back in the corner and listen patiently. Hopefully, they...BMC will release the kits for the others as well. When they do, I will line up with cash in hand. |

Froggy, thank you for clarifying. I was starting to get confused about this whole RSS thing. Here are some screen shots I got from the Buell website:
It's pretty clear that the scoop is different between the Uly and the XB's, and that this year's XB scoop is much larger than all previous years' scoops. My only question now is, for the XB's, is there more to the story than just the RSS? Did they change any of the air flow ducting like they did on the Uly's? |

Birdy I think you've kept the RSS debate alive. I had two aftermarket scoops and anyone who says that they don't work hasn't tried the same ones I have. I think it is great that the factory has produced these. Bikes that can't take the ducting are still going to get value out of these, just as you've found. It is also good that that they went further with the ducting. |

Any one knows if the RS scoop on this year's Uly fits a 2005 XB12S with a Micron? Anyone out there offers a modified aftermarket RSS for an XB12S with a micron? Cheers |
