Finally got around to finishing my chain conversion as well as a few other mods.
These include: Saintly chain conversion, Tsubaki o-ring chain, Drummer sprocket cover, and factory race can. Both scoops, oil cover cooler, windscreen, mirrors, headlight bezels, rear sprocket (spikes are polished), and sprocket cover Gloss black with gold metallic flake. Front sprocket and idler half black metallic and half orange.
Creates a nice lope at very low speeds and turns to an orange glow with a twist of the wrist. Finished with a nice glossy clear coat. What do you think? sorry couldn't figure out how to get all pics in one post. |

Since you asked...I think the blue and orange look killer...the gold flake may be pushing busy. FWIW I have candy stripes on my bike...what do I know about busy? |

I like the color scheme. I think I would have someone paint Firebolt on the tail and Buell on the tank in the same color orange used on the bottom. That would connect the top and bottom real nice. |

Why do you prefer a chain over a belt? Now you're gonna get dirty chain oil all over that beautiful bike |

I totally dig the half orange/half black front sprocket & idler. I run with my front sprocket exposed and your half & half idea may get stolen! I bet that looks sweet when spinning. I think the blue/orange combo looks sharp! |

Thanks everyone! Steelerbike I did switch to the chain drive because I got an extremely good deal on it and my '03 belt got cracks at 11k. And sticky nasty chain lube is a thing of the past. Jakecheez I did notice a more direct power transfer at take off, It also feels more responsive on and off the throttle in the power band, at least that is what my butt tells me. And A LOT more noise! Pmpski_1 I used DuPont Chroma 1 just Primer and paint except for the aluminum parts got an initial coat of self etching primer, then primer, then paint. Thank you all for your input, I would like to continue the paint up to the top sections in the future as well as parts of the helmet, I like the tail fairing idea, but have to wait a bit, for more money to throw at the bike. |

Jpxb9 I use Bel-Ray "super clean". It adheres well and dries to a low or no tac. It contains teflon and is O-ring safe. There are other high quality lubes out there as well. But I have really like this one since my dirt bike days. Delta_one While you are looking up Saintly and searching for Chain Conversion in general, you should come across a "build your own" kit posted by Saintly, if he is not still making them. This one cost me $200.00 before paint and has a Tsubaki Omega O-ring chain, if that helps. |

if he doesn't still make them he'll most likely give you the part numbers. even with machining the idler himself he was making almost nothing on the kits. he felt he was helping other riders out of a jam. the upgraded belt setup was $$$ at the time and this was a cheaper way out that some people preferred. he originally built the kit for himself after being stranded with multiple belt failures on his 03. the last straw was spending the night on the side of the road 700miles from home with his "new" bike(he usually rides home built antiques, often across the country). he had been told by the road side service plan that came with the bike that he was too far from a dealer. had to have a family member drive all night with a borrowed truck to get him. bike sat for several months after that while he cooled down. the "kit" was the outcome. |
