So, on my way home the other day on my firebolt, I noticed my highbeam indicator was OFF. Since I turn my highbeam on all the time I thought it was just the indicator, when I got home I checked and sho enough, neither bulb was on. Checked fuse and bulbs, they were fine??? Any one else have this happen? What was the fix? Thanks |

Have you had the recall done? |

Have you had the recall done? That only is for the reflectors. Check your fuses, and then move on to the subharness. Your bulbs plug into it, and it plugs into the main harness. The connector of the subharness is prone to melting if you attempt to run an HID ballast straight off of it - it might be a similar problem for you since you are running both lights all the time. |

Do you have power going to the bulbs? If so then, have you checked to see if the bulbs are blown?? |

No power to the bulbs. I'm guessing maybe a switch but its just a guess at this point. the hi beam indicator isn't on either. Fuse is fine, I have a manual, guess its time to dig out the fluke meter and start running wires... |

I'll reiterate the fuses. I had the same thing happen to me last year. It alluded me for a while because the fuse was good...BUT, the connectors the fuse plugs into lost their grip so as a result there was no contact. Wiggle it around and measure voltage across to verify before ruling it out. |

The recall is not only for the reflectors, it's because of the reflectors. |

Also check the relays on the left side box. I *think* that one of them should shut off the lights. Try moving them around. (Message edited by damnut on August 05, 2009) |

Ground wire on sub-harness is prone to rotting inside the connector and will take out both lights. It's the black wire, wiggle it and see if lights come back on. |

This happened to me. It ended up being what archangel described above. |

Add me to the list of ground wire sub-harness problem. I have a spare harness on standby as well. |

Thanks for all the suggestions. I made sure all the relays were tight, I guess the ignition wasn't, lights work as advertised and total time invested in fix=5 minutes! |

just bring it in for the recall. it takes no more than 3 hrs and they replace the entire headlight assembly on the 05. if they dont work after the buell tech messes with it, then he/she will fix them for free- boom! cheap and effective |

Thanks Jake...exactly what I was thinking. As long as they don't notice it wasn't working before they started working on it. |

Definitaly do the recall. During a hard braking on an offramp, my highbeam lens actually came flying out and broke into a few big chunks on the road. I noticed that both plastic rings that hold in the lenses were cracked. The old lights get toooo hot. It was funny, because 3 days after that happened, I got the recall notice in the mail. The dealership got a kick out of it. |
