Well I read the book of Buell and I have found out that I am just not cool enough for these bikes. I am sure I sit too much. I am sure I have too many friends. I don't own a full leather racing suit. I often wave at others on bikes. Yes I am entirely just not Buell bike material. If Buell would be so kind as to send me my money back I will move on so as to not give their products a black eye. Of course this company is probably not nearly as cool as they believe themselves to be so maybe I will just let them be posers and ride my bike and ignore their elitist stupid advertising campaign that who ever designed should be fired for being an idiot. |

Better watch it. I made comments like that the first day and had my reading comprehension and number of miles ridden challenged. I've since gotten over it. The marketing is not directed at me (or you.) Everyone will continue to ride the way they like and the world will go on. As much as any marketing material tries to be a manifesto of exclusiveness, the fact remains any company will sell to who ever has the money. If you walked into a Buell dealer and said "I will never hang off this bike, I will wave at every being I pass, I will not put a sticker on my truck", they don't care as long as you have the dinero. An image of exclusiveness is nothing more then a marketing gimmick. It has no bearing on our lives. It is good to know I'm not the only person that read it that way. I think some people felt personally insulted that I didn't love the new hype. Or felt that I was insulting EB. /shrug BTW, there are about 10000 pages on this very topic over on the quick board. |

I know that I am saying it is a very ineffective advertising message. Who in the world is it aimed at? I don't get it. I don't think an all out in your face approach serves the company well. Kind of like putting a bike in a car crusher with nothing to put in it's place in the lineup. If the next part of the video had the new and vastly improved entry level bike then cool great but it is like they lost their mind completely. I am afraid the 1125's might have went straight to their heads. |

Personally I like the new ad campaign. First of all, what are advertisements for? They are to lure new customers, not make existing ones happy...their product should do that on it's own, and it does. Bottom line is this. Do you own a Buell? Do you love it? Then shut up and ride...and wave when you pass me, I'll wave back. |

I think people are making a bit much out of this marketing. Taking it a bit too much to heart. The Thumper forum is all up in arms over the Blast. I don't understand why anyone would take it so personal. If you already own a Buell, who cares? |

Zatco is the first. All my sportbike friends are offended by it. All my Harley friends are offended by it. I'm severely offended by it. I won't continue pimping Buell if it doesn't change, fast. To be so supremist is over the line. It's Buell, not Jesse James. I am not amused. |

Cmon guys. I was pretty irritated when I first read it too. It's just marketing pap. Try not to take it that personally. Our bikes are still the same, our friends are still the same. Nothing has fundamentally changed except for some bad marketing. Try not to give it such power over your emotions. It's sad but this kinda reminds me of the federalist/anti-federalist papers. People are all fired up about it. Debating the BoB like its some world-changing document. It truly doesn't matter. A year from now it'll all be forgotten. It'll be the actions of the company over the next few years that determine my opinion. Not some marketing scheme. Unfortunately this and the cube issue seem intertwined. The blastards are all torn up right now but they'll eventually calm down. Try not to take it so personally. I predict interesting days ahead in buelldom. Ya'll keep the shiny side up. |

Glad it's not just me- here's where I posted my opinion... http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/158 664/481449.html?1248814188 It's almost as if someone at Buell has approved a "scorched earth" campaign, and it doesn't make one damn bit of sense. |

i liked it, made me chuckle, because when i ride, i ride by myself for the most part, i dont care about import bikes, i dont wave to anyone really, even when i rode my nightster, i didnt wave, dont like it? i really dont care. i ride my bike because i like to, i enjoy taking a ride by myself, instead of riding 30 deep on bikes that all look the same. i have no need to make friends with someone just because we ride a buell, or a sport bike for that matter, doesnt mean im not nice to them, i just dont go out of my way to meet people because of it. |

Haha jeez guys, it didnt bug me one bit, just made me more proud to own a "true racing machine" . Calm down... Only thing that was pretty funny, today I "mastered" (feel comfortable doing it, no longer awkward) hanging off, just a day or two after seeing that new ad. Yay me! Now I'm a REAL Buell rider, oh wait, I wave at every bike I pass :/. Go on a long ride and blow some steam, its just an ad. |

I don't know what you guys are all up in arms about. I think they nailed it with this ad campaign. They took the reasons I like Buell and the reasons that I like the company's uniqueness and put it in an add campaign. And to be honest, I think it was meant to offend some people. Or at least to stir some people into action. Bravo Buell. You weren't afraid to be yourself just because other people are unhappy with you for doing so. |

The ad is not saying to NOT wave people. It is saying if you are mid-apex, you can't really wave, because you are a little busy, so it's OK not to! Jeez, you guys are gonna need therapy over this! |

I believe the ad said something about how we should not feel obligated to wave back at people who go for excessive amounts of chrome and stretched swing arms. Not that I like those things. But because I'm not a total jerk, I WILL wave if I'm not doing something that requires both hands. And despite what they suggest I SHOULD be doing at all times on my bike, sometimes you'd just look like an idiot weaving back in forth in your lane so you can hang off the effing thing. They nailed the jerk-off and poser markets. People who actually are good riders, but no one likes, and people who just generally suck at life. I don't appreciate being associated with either one of those, thank you very much. What was wrong with just "ruthless engineering"? The bikes are unique, they are well made, but they don't stomp all over the competition, and it's silly to pretend like they do. And yes, I realize its just an ad, and I will get over it, but I'm allowed to be pissed at first blush, because I will be catching extra flak from friends because of it. I like the engineering catchphrase and I like the new badge deal. (Message edited by phoi on July 28, 2009) |

Ummm...so Buells are marketed to loners? That should go a long way toward increasing market share |

Haha! I bought a Buell cuz I rarely saw one on the road, it is American made (please just leave that reason alone- enough bs has been said) and it sounds, looks and handles sick as fvck!!! I don't care about some stupid marketing campaign. If Buell spent as much time on it as you guy have crying about it: A- it would probably be acceptible to u guys B- their R&D would suffer because they spent much on marketing. Get over it!!!! I like quiznos subs, I don't like weird retarted singing rodents standing next to my subs. I still ate there even after that horrible marketing. In the words of the joker "why so serious?" get over it guys- you sound like a bunch high school girls |

Well, the advertising worked in that your comments made me read the book a lot closer. So what am I missing? None of your comments are in the book. If you're talking about the lonely bit, I get it. Most of my bike buddies are HD. They ride from donut to burger. I try to eat more sensibly. They get fatter, I get faster. Buell does the riding I want to do, well. Works for me. The sitting thing, is that an issue? I got an email from Buell telling me that sitting is not a sport. Ironic because I'd had a big meal and was feeling fat and my bum was getting uncomfortable from sitting at the computer too long. I laughed out loud when I got that email, shut down the computer, picked up my Gretsch and started rocking. Worked for me. Wish the rain would stop so I can get out again. The last line of the email was probably appropriate for here: There's nothing wrong with these people. They just bought the wrong bike. Sorry, I saw nothing about mandatory leathers or not waving. You were encouraged to wave when safe. Interestingly, the US version is longer than the Canadian version. No idea why. Is the sticker on page 23 free? How do I get one? |

I think people need to relax, I think the new advertisement is great, pretty funny takes on the Buell image. I don't really fit what they have but I don't find it offensive either. |
