Ok I must be really bad with the search engine because I can never find anything. I'm trying to pick an exhaust for my 06 scg. I'm leaning towards the GB due to the recent racing article and the picture the story painted of a WWII fighter plane. That being said I want to make an informed decision. Yet I can't really find any numbers persay but have read a couple times about a shoot out. These are the exhausts I know about. Buell racing (I have this on my 03 and it's ok) D&D Drummer GB Jardine Micron Am I missing any? Do we have numbers on these? Sound clips are worthless to me IMHO, but if someone in the Milwaukee area wants to meet up in person to show off their sound, I'd love that. Thanks! |

u can also make ur own.i finally got to hear mine as i let a friend ride it.its fine by me,and the loudest of the group i ride with here and there.but less loud then the jardine i had. holding speed on highway is less loud too. mine was about 120 dollars to make from a magna flow exhaust and a 90 degree elbow |

I can attest, Adam's(Boney95) bike sounds sweet. As does the Micron. But, unfortunately, the Microns are currently unobtainable. Hals does have a couple of Drummers in stock right now as well. |

ok so looking at the shootout data The best hp and torque goes to the buell race kit According to the article the GB exhaust is heavy but better then the drummer by one hp and one torque Third is the SS drummer Strictly going by numbers the factory race kit is best? Which leads me to this. I've got a 03 xb9 with the factory race kit and an 06 running stock. Is it better/possible to remove the race kit off my 9 and put it on my 12? I have to say reading the article with WWII plane images and duell pipes makes me fall in love. But the the Drummer seems to be the most popular and available despite being lesser then the factory race kit? Or am I reading this wrong? (Message edited by california69gs on July 07, 2009) |

You can swap the pipe, but you can't swap the ECM. I still think the Drummer makes a better street pipe. Overall #s aren't the only thing to look at. |

Look at the dyno chart on the race can, it has a nasty flatspot between 3000 and 4000 RPM. I loved everything about the race pipe except for that. |

Based on the link above it looks like another home made pipe. |

I think the race pipe is better for top end, but lacks on the low end. I think it depends on where you want your power. I have a Drummer and got more power through the whole rpm range. But if you're riding at top speed is more important then the race pipe. But I'm just rehashing what I was told about the race pipe. I'm sure someone else will pipe in that has more knowledge. |

Yeah, looks like a convert of a magnaflow exhaust. I had magnaflows on my mustang gt and loved them. I'm having a hard time deciding. The regular drummer would be best for street driving and the GB also has a great curve. There's no local gb exhaust to hear but sounds like a couple drummers. Just a lot of money for me so I want the right one. The drummer maintains the lift points that's a plus I would think. My chin fairing is a little scarred from falling so keeping or losing the chin isn't a big deal. |

i kept the brackets from the jardine and then added my magnaflow to mine. good sound, low price and i can swap mufflers and keep costs down to experiment. |

"u can also make ur own.i finally got to hear mine as i let a friend ride it.its fine by me,and the loudest of the group i ride with here and there" Pray tell, how does its power characteristics compare in a dyno test? I'd rather have "good" than "cheap", and that seems to be the point of the inquiry. As for the shootout, consider carefully the charts, not peak numbers. You're looking for linear lines, especially for streetriding. |
