Do the factory saddle bags rub or wear on the bike in any way? Does anyone have a pic of what the bike looks like with them removed, but brackets still in place? These are the style/ste I'm thinking about: http://www.buell.com/en_us/gear/accessories/produc t.asp?Menu_ID=2&ProductLineID=4&CategoryID=4&Produ ctID=2225 |

Short answer, yes. Yes they will rub the finish of the bike. They are made of a heavy woven type of textile and will mar the finish if no preventive steps are taken. There are some rubber/plastic strips sold to prevent this and are supposed to work well, but I have not used them. I have Cortech Sport bags on my XBR (had the XBS versions of the Buell bags on my City-X) since I wanted the rubber backing to protect the finish. Only downside to the Cortech's are that the straps will wear the finish on the passenger peg frames, but I take them off when not using the bags. |

Without the bags but has the mounts. I have the reflector adapters on but you can keep them off, i ended up getting rid of those.
With the bags on and the tail bag
back view with all the bags and yes they do rub it pretty good, i rode 1800 miles and they made it look REALLY roughed up (Message edited by juniorkirk on June 24, 2009) |
