Long story short. Dead battery, will not take a charge. Bike was not prepped, and the gas tank is mostly empty. Has been sitting inside covered. Checked the dipstick, and oil looks to be way down. Any help? TIA, as always? |

Unless there's a big oil spot under your bike showing the oil got out, the oil level appears down because it will drain back to engine on a bike that sits up for a long time. First get a new battery. Drain whatever gas is left, re-fill with fresh gas. It wouldn't hurt to add some Chevron fuel system cleaner, Sea Foam, or similar product. Check the tire pressure and condition before you ride it anywhere. Crank it and ride gently until hot. Change the oil. After that, you should be good to go. |

I'd go with a new battery, fresh full tank of 90+ gas, top up the oil and go from there. Assuming she starts, take her for a 15 - 30 minute easy run and change the oil. As I go along, I'd be checking wheels, tires, bearing, everything before I'd figure everything was okay. Use the service chart on Buell.com to guide you through the check up. |

OK, Thanx. How much oil does the Buell take, and is the drain plug at the bottom of the swingarm? Also, anyone run AMSOIL sae 60? Get's hot down here. |

O and check the blinker fluid. Top it off if need be. don't want to get pulled over for something as simple as that. |

I have another bike. An 08 FXSTC. But it's been problematic lately, and I just want to ride, not fight WWIII. Already did my time in the service. |

Barnyard you didn't mention the muffler bearings? Good chance they're shot too and will need replacement. |

I just bought a 2003 Blast that was sitting for 2 years. My friend with a pickup bailed last second so I had to ride it home. She was running like crap for the first few miles, I thought it might of had an intake leak. I just beat the hell out of it, she came to life and everything was good since. The thing came with a full tank of possibly stale gas, so I was flogging the hell out of it to burn it off, somehow still managed 98mpg (I think the tripo wasn't reset). Anyway, I changed the oil on it yesterday just in case. It was 500 miles before the service interval so I figured why not. |

You'd be surprised on those Blasts! My girlfriend always got like 80 out of it, and I once got 90, going 85 (almost WO!) for the entire tank! Go figure... Those are fun little bikes. Doesn't make much sense either, they are not light, don't have much power....but they shake like crazy and handle well! I figure it's fun like riding a go-kart is fun- shouldn't be fun for someone who drives a real car much faster, but somehow it's very fun! |
