Can anyone tell me how to lower a firebolt? Want to get a new bike, but I can't touch the ground. |

Get thicker boots. As longer as the balls of your feet touch, your fine. 90% of your time spent on the bike is with it moving. No need for feet. I can't flat foot on mine and I've never had an issue. I've seen a bracket made but honestly wouldn't trust it. But...to do so I believe you'd just want the lightening low hardware. Try shaving the seat as well. Yup, I can't flat foot both my feet either and I'm 5'10". For what it's worth. |

What year is your bike? Best surest way to lower it about .8" is to replace the shock, side stand and forks with the 12Scg's. If your bike is 03-04 it is only the above parts that need to be swapped. If your bike is an 05 or newer you will also need to replace the LOWER triple tree with the cg's. (12Scg has 41mm forks as do all 03 & 04 models. 05 and up R's and S's have 43mm forks. Top triple is same for all but the lower one is different.) On Edit: The challenge will be setting up the suspension if you go this route. I would start by comparing the difference between the 12S and 12Scg settings and then apply the difference to the Firebolt settings. (Message edited by Metalstorm on June 22, 2009) |

Mine is an 08. I am going to pick it up tomarrow. The dealer is throwing in the cg rear shock along with the bike. Thanks for the tips. I let you know how it works out. |

Just the cg shock alone doesn't sound so great. The front will ride high. I'm not a fan of raising the forks in the trees so I would buy (if I had the funds) or trade for the cg forks, lower triple and side stand. But that's just me. Having not ridden the bike I can't really say anything except I 'think' there could be handling issues with the mismatch. But that's pure speculation with nothing to back it. |

The XB's are very sensitive to small changes in the _stock_ form. I second the vote to change out the forks (and the sidestand) as a set. |
