I've been riding for years now and just as I was thinking on how much things have changed in the motorcycling world, especially the crowd, I came across something great yesterday.....Yesterday, I rode early (as I always do) and rain was coming down like it was going out of style. After an hour of riding, I decided to drop by the dealership just to say hello and take a cup of coffee. Seeing it was quiet, I hit the road again. It was time to refill when I entered this local gas station and saw about five guys in their Japanese bikes. While fueling the Buell, they approached me and made some real good comments about my bike and how they liked the flat black paint job. I told them I had painted myself. I then got the fuel I needed and decided to park my XB9 beside their CBRs and ZX's...I had a wonderful conversation with them. No one trashed Buell, though admittedly, most said they preferred their Japanese machines, which was honest of them (my type of crowd since I hate fake ass people). After about 30 minutes of good conversation, they invited me to join them on a run to Leesburg. What a nice gesture! I usually ride solo and love riding solo, but this time I gave it a try....I enjoyed the heck out of it, not so much because of the group thing but more so because of how they treated me and talked to me. It was a great ride. They asked to do it again, but I did remind them that I do prefer to ride alone. Its just something I've always done from the time I first started riding 20 years ago. Its just the way I roll even when I go cross-country (which I've only really done twice...) We exchanged hand shakes after we reached Leesburg and I rode off to Fairfax VA cemetery to visit my sister's grave. It was a great day! It is nice to know that in a world of fake freakin people who are either just there for you because of what they can get from you or people who just have f#%^in egos, there are still great individuals out there! |

Come to a Badweb event some time. You'll meet plenty of nice people. I really enjoy the company of the people I've met here. The West Virginia Buell Rally isn't too far away from you. |

Ulynut I will ride that way one of these weekends as West VA roads and sights are awesome! Rode by West VA to go to Natches Trace Park Tennesee in 1999 riding a Triumph T-509 non-stop...very close to a iron butt run...I believe it was about 900 miles.. |

Pogue_mahone I have a co-worker who moved to Colorado and told me how nice it is there! He rides but his first love is really skiing! If I go there by chance, I will certainly stop by your camp! |
