anyone else here ever mount speakers somewhere on their firebolt? I know many of you will say not to do it, but I'm not looking for those answers...only those that will help me thank you Just bought a kit for 60 and am considering several locations for the speakers: Mounted on the passenger peg brackets. Inside the fairing(very tricky for this one). On either side of the engine. One above the pipes, the other mounted on the left air scoop. thats it so far...here is what I got: http://www.gooddeals18.com/product/SHKCYCLEKITBLAC K/scooter_motorcycle_yacht_marine_audio__2_speaker samp.html |

You just inspired me to record the fan running on my XB, then to mount speakers on my Blast and then hook up my mp3 player and have the fan recording playing, just so I don't feel leftout. /end threadjack. Anyway, why speakers and not headphones? You would be much better off with headphones, based on my own personal experience. |

I've seen speakers that mount to the mirror holes. They were not big and sounded kind of nasty as I recall but maybe you can come up with something. |

I have headphones too...the speakers are for when its parked... I thought of the handlebar location too, but the speakers are too big for that, they would hit the upper fairing. Airbox also sounds like a good location...just not sure cause i'd probly have to cut holes in it for that. IDK if I want to do that just yet but definitely an option... thanks guys |

Maybe put a tank bag on the bike and throw them in there? |

You already have a sound system, it is located under your engine...

You could cut out the space and mount them in the muffler. How about mounting them in the undertail with the speaker firing toward the rear tire? How about on the underside of the bottom of the airbox in the space to the left and right of the intake? |

the clutch and brake clamps have bolt holes (metric threaded) that you could mount them to. looks like you could use the mounting brackets it comes with, but you might have some clearance issues with the windscreen at full-lock |

I'm going with Ochoa. The inner cover. I think it would be the cleanest and less obvious. Tape in lines to the back side and run them with everything else. If their decent enough speakers you'll hear them fine. |

If you are only using them when parked, mount one up front and one in the rear. You get greater separation of channels and have less to mount/hide at each end. ie. one speaker an end verses two. I'd think about locations that let you fire both of them to just the left or right. One last consideration, I used to provide the music for an informal football game on Saturdays where some of my friends would gather in a field. I once ran my battery dead. I put a reserve battery system in that would disconnect power when the battery got down to a level where I just had enough power to still start my vehicle. Saved me more than once. |

+1 for the passenger peg brackets. That would work primo for when you are parked. Cool idea though- get motor lights on your bike to turn on when the bass hits. |

Under the airbox could be fun. Imagine the confused look on peoples' faces as they try to figure out how the music is coming out of the bike's 'gas tank' |

Nice... You put anything on the bar for your player or just stick it in a pocket for riding? |

Speakers on a Firebolt! I don't get the whole music on a motorbike thing. Ride hard then turn the stereo up when you get home. If it wasn't for your cool profile pic Hendro I would have sworn you were a Goldwing rider who'd got lost. |

HAHAHA ^^^^ I'm the type of person the HAS to make it MY bike. I cannot leave things stock, never have and never will. I love to customize things and make it unique. Why put speakers on it?...why not, ya know... I know what you are saying about why put them on, listen at home, etc, but it is a HUGE conversation starter with people. Just went to a concert last night and had it bumpin, everyone was gathered around asking questions and loving it. Had a few HD riders come up and appreciate it too. Its just fun.

Get a translucent air box cover and mount them aiming out the sides. You could even use the speaker sets with differing sizes, like a five inch main, three inch mids, and a 1 1/2 inch tweeter. Mount a sub in the pillon. |

Hendro please post pictures of your install. Also, have you tried it while riding yet? |

I'm at work right now, but if I get a chance I'll take pics on my phone and post. Yes i've ridden with them on, and at low speed, like under 30 you can hear them fine, even with the Jardine on. At highway speed, no there's just too much air rushing. I have headphones for me to hear music while i'm riding. Eten- nice idea. I think your idea would work best with a ram air pipe from the intake up and out through the snorkel hole. That would free alot of space taken by the filter to be used for more speakers/ amp/subs...etc. How would I fit a sub in the pillion? are there slim ones that would fit there? |

It is a nice setup! Hendro showed it to me today and it's pretty cool. Like he said, low speeds/parked probably would be best for the setup. Nice to have at a rally or bike night event. Dunno if Eten's idea would work with all the speakers. At one point, you will be draining the electrical system too much (if Eten's comment was serious!!!). |
