Ive got my bike up for sale at the moment so ive been putting it back to standard, this included removing the catch can and nuffler i had on the bike. Now its making funny noises out of the rocker cover vents.

At start up and shutdown its especially obvious. it makes a kinda toot toot sort of noise, like blowing through a trumpet kind of noise. when the bike is started it makes like a longer toooot, then the engine catches and it stops tooting, then when you shut off it starts to toot as the engine slows down, as a couple of toot toot tooot, in sync with the slowing revs of the motor, if you can understand that.

the noise is only coming from the front rocker hose, when the engine is running the hose is definately blowing, but when it makes the toot it does seem like its actually sucking back air??? the noise may have been there previously, i plugged the old setup back in (hoses went into catch can and then into even longer vent hose), and the noise was no longer audible, but i dont know for sure.

and a second problem, ive only done 1 tank since refititng the rocker vents to the airbox, but there is a fair amount of oil inside the airbox now. the catch can used need emptying often, but its was always that milky crap in there, not straight oil. it's had a service the week before i did this, i just checked the oil and it has been a little overfilled. could this explain the oil coming out the rockers? or is that not likely.

Has anyone got any idea what might be the problem? ive just spent nearly $700 bucks on a service, new pads and a front rotor just so i can sell this thing, its killing me all these problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the check valves have a problem, you could try to remove and clean.
but it would be easier just to replace.

The milky stuff from your catch can is just oil and water mixed, it would leave an oil like residue in the airbox as the engine injests the rest of what would have ended up in the catch can. This part is normal

Ace, I think the color may have to do with the way it cools. Stock, it's a short trip to the intake, so you get mostly straight oil. Routing it to a catch can, the oil gets the chance to cool more as it travels through the hose, and probably picks up more moisture.

That's my totally made up theory, anyway. I noticed the same deal on mine: oil in the airbox, but milk in the rerouted hose.
