It is just as fun with the stock pipe and I can sneak up on pedestrians! |

Dbird29, I agree! I tried on Jardine pipes and even with the silencer on, it was still quite annoying while cruising on the highway at a steady RPM with a full face helmet. The louder pipes are only tolerable on a Buell if you have a half helmet (cruiser style) since the sound waves do not get trapped inside your helmet. It is almost weird because one would think that a full size helmet would quiet sound and not trap it in. Now, it is the opposite experience when you ride with stock exhaust; with the stock, if you wear a half helmet, all you hear is the wind and it is so quiet with a little sound, however, when you wear a full helmet, you hear that wonderful Buell roar but it does not get you deaf! Don't get me wrong though, I still miss the loudness and sometimes am considering getting a Drummer....Performance wise, since I am really not a speed junky having ridden mostly Harleys all my life, I like the pull of my stock Xb9SX! |

I had the Buell race exhaust and went back to a BBQ painted stock muffler. |

I hear ya Buelltroll! It does get me paranoid since this is the FIRST time I ran on stock pipes...I either had screamin eagles when on a Harley or straight annoying pipes LOL! But dude, I do love the stock exhaust of Buell...just hoping and praying that cagers see me now more than ever as they can't really hear me... |

What was it about the race exhaust that you did not like Dbird? |

Too loud and boomed inside helmet like you mentioned. I guess if I needed a HP boost I would get a 1125CR! |

Haha. I'm the opposite. I have the D&D slip on which is one of the loudest and I love to listen to them. I've even ridden it about 500 miles on the highway and it wasn't too bad. |

Then you all can send me your race pipes and ill give you all the stock pipes to replace them. Ill take drummer spec ops and D&D also along with any other high end pipes I can make money on. |

I love having a quiet bike. I can start my bike in the back yard at 3:00 am and my neighbor doesn't shoot at me anymore. |

The race pipe is the best pipe, its the perfect volume. Sucks that it isn't a full system and has that nasty flat spot in the power band. |

Have to disagree. With the stock exhaust on my bike I felt like I was riding a small dirt bike every time I started the bike up. When the valve opened during heavier throttle it was a bit better sounding but still, didnt sound like a 1200. The drummer fixed that real quick and is also very nice looking . |

HIJACK! Does anyone know the amount of back pressure that a stock muffler has with the valve open? How about closed? |

I tried earplugs. I made baffles. The Latus was still too loud. I loved the sound but my head would hurt for 2 days after riding for 30 minutes. It's too loud... guess I'm too old. I have a stock exhaust now and my head no longer hurts. Riding is a joy again. It sounds like any other bike, I don't get the stares I used too (good and bad ), and I don't feel like such a hooligan anymore. Wait, is that a bad thing or not? |
