This site was referenced in another thread. http://palmerproducts.auto.officelive.com/XBSTT.as px I see that they sell an alternate cable retainer. Their pic of the stock one caught my eye. It is shown as sliding to the right to remove. When I had mine off the first time, I didn't pay attention to how it was and assumed that it should go where you would slide it to the left to remove. This seemed safer if the screw loosened. Of course, if the wire breaks, it won't help. I have the sheet metal one on order, so it won't make much difference soon. |

The picture's kind of funny. The item immediately before their "Clutch Cable Retainer Upgrade" shows the Buell stock replacement item rather then their own after market piece!! I just found that pretty dang funny. Gotta love marketing mistakes. My own clutch cable burned through just a few weeks ago due to the brittle wire clip. The clip broke and the cable sat up against the header and fried away. Had it replaced under warranty with the new version, which much, much better, and I would say better then this after market piece from what I see in the picture. See thread here for pics before and after: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/327 77/459969.html?1243040877 But if you're out of warranty and are pinching pennies, paying about $5 American for that is probably cheaper then the Buell replacement. |
