I called a dealer and they said I need to buy the whole kit to replace it...is this true or can I just buy the rubber insert and replace that? Thanks, Hendro |

It is a kit. The rubber mount is vulcanized into the hole. They call it a kit because it comes with a new bolt. It seems that the bolt will corrode into the hole and suffer abuse on getting it out. I am on my third one in 38,000 miles. Put never-sieze on the center bolt to keep it from corroding. I often run with heavy loads. I have to admit I think that is what is killing the mounts. Me, passenger, and pack load, over 500 lbs, could be the cause. It doesn't fail at once, rather over a season of heavy loads many times. |

hmmm...I only have 7k miles on mine... Should it already be shot?...I got it with 5k miles on her about 2 months ago but even then it was vibrating and shaking bad at certain times. |

I just replaced mine and I'm just under 6k. It wasn't all the way down to the bolt head, but it was close and you could see where the rubber had started to separate. |

that looks very promising...thhanks... but what does it do exactly...i'm guessing it transfers weight from shear to compression against the bottom of the big flat bolt head?(i'm an engineer for what its worth, so you can be technical about it if you want) Do you have that tedda? still probly need to get a new rubber tho, and if anyone knows whether or not I need a whole new unit or just the rubber, I really could use an answer ... not trying to be pushy but I LOVE to ride and want to fix it asap lol |

It comes as a complete unit and a new bolt. It doesn't come apart...or at least its not meant to...except for the bolt. |

thank you thirty...thats the confirmation i was looking for. I was just currious cause there was a dealer site that offered just the rubber, and it is also listed seperately in the parts manual |

You still have the 05??? Make sure you get the new style mount and not old stock.. do a search on what it looks like... I ran across the saver a few days ago.. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/455473.html |

I was gonna order off ironmachine.com, is there a better place? I followed the link above about the saver, which ill probly get also, but i still think the one I have now is shot and needs to be replaced. If you can find the "new style" isolator for me id really appreciate it, cause i had now idea there was a new one that could be gotten. |

For what its worth mine has been bad since I bought it at 5k. I didnt know till I saw what a good one at the dealer looked like. I just thought that was the way it was. I rode with a bad one for nearly 11K. Apparently it wont completely fall apart! The only thing I noticed after I replaced it was it is a little less vibration at hwy speeds. |
