I ordered one last week on Tuesday. Thursday it was in, Friday I picked it up and installed it. Only reason it wasn't in stock was because a bike was in for service used up the off the shelf. (So mine is nice and fresh! ) |

3 to 5 buisness days if its not in stock. Be careful. Do not overtighten the part that screws into the primary. I broke a brand new cable that my dealer had in stock. I ended up calling dealers that might have it and had it overnighted. |

It has been 2 weeks since i ordered it and they do not have it and do not have a tracking number on it they said it was back ordered. So i called Gainseville Buell dealer and they had it in stock and i should get it tomorrow. Now here is another question Should i be mad as hell or what?? I have been on the phone with them about this and did not know it was back ordered till last week I have not been able to ride my bike in 2 weeks (Message edited by bueller83 on June 10, 2009) |

Mad? Nope. You just know what dealer to avoid in the future. Many of the board sponsors here would be glad to help, and can ship to you fast. Even American Sport Bike who isn't a dealer usually has something like a clutch cable. |

Don't know about your dealer, but Rocky's here can tell me where in the world that part is and how long it should take to get here. And they do that without me asking them to. Don't know if this applies but years ago, I worked at a small Honda dealer. They would frustrate customers because they would wait until there were enough orders to get their discount, which they didn't pass on to their customers. I think you've got some good info here. If you don't want to create a fuss, can't blame you, then ask the dealer each time for the part's location and ETA. If you don't like that then, no probs, call Gainesville. You already know they're good, and a sponsor. Who needs the stress, vote with your feet. |

It sounds like you've been lied to by your dealer to me. With the exception of backordered parts, Buell shipping has been very prompt in my experience. That is provided of course that they've received the order from the dealer. I find it doubtful, not impossible, that clutch cables are on backorder. |

Iamarchangel is correct, the dealers can look it up and see where you can get one. A few years ago right after I got my Buell, my mom wanted to buy me a helmet as a gift. I picked out one I saw online somewhere, but little did I know it was discontinued. I went to my dealer, and attempted to get the helmet. It wasn't in the catalog, so the girl asked me where I saw it. I told her how I found it by googling Buell Helmets, so she did that and it came up as one of the first results. It had a part number, she checked her system and found a dealership in the middle of nowhere that had it. 2 minutes later the order was placed and the helmet was shipped to my dealer in a few days. If your dealer won't take the extra step to keep you happy, find one that will. Oh, and how can getting parts elsewhere piss them off? If you look at my bike you will find parts from Danbury, Liberty, New Roc, Precision, Ray Price, Schaeffer, Stone Mountain and others. Danbury is my servicing dealer, they don't care. Hell they have helped me out when I screwed something up using parts from another dealer. They get paid in the end, thats all that matters to them. (Just avoid the service writer that tried to make me buy tire tubes! ) |

Well i have heard from a couple people behind the parts counter that harley parts are way more expensive and i hope this is not why they wont get my stuff quick because i would think that it all comes from the same warehouse |

Depends on the part. Usually yes, there is a 4000% chrome tax on them It still would have nothing to do with you not getting your parts in a reasonable time. Like stated above, there would have to be a national backorder for that to happen. It has happened before, but it is rare, especially for a common part thats used on current production bikes like the clutch cable. |

My Harley Buell dealer in Manchester Nh keeps all fall over type parts and cables in stock. The parts guy owns a Buell, is on the badweb. He says he is not sure why they are not a sponsor. Find a new dealer!!! Hope i did not cross any lines with this post, and them not being a sponsor. I did suggest they sponsor the badweb. |

Just went threw this trying to get frame pucks for my XB. They were on national back-order but they never told me that. I ended up getting them from another dealer. |

Something quite unright. Talk to your dealer and tell him all your friends are saying they get Buell parts within 48 hours. My bet is that the dealer forgot to order it. |

You may want to ask to speak with the Parts Manager. HE is the one who pulls the final trigger on all parts orders. Most shops place one mass order a day from Harley/Buell, unless it is a bike down order. Just because someone at the counter took your money and gave you a receipt showing you paid for it, DOES NOT mean it is ordered. I've had this arguement with far too many people. It's a simple fix if you can do it with tact and know WHO to talk to. Hourly parts associates in no shape, form, or fashion can "order" your part. They place an order "request". Like i said, it's all in who you talk to and how. Hope that helps you out. Smokescreen |

I understand not wanting to add friction with your dealer. At the same time your dealer is not doing right by you. Next time I would call them and ask if they have the part you need in stock. If they do you can go pick it up and be happy. If they don't you can order from a number of places and have it delivered to your door. Your dealer never needs to know the business they lost. I did that exact thing today with my local dealer looking for the upgraded voltage regulator connector. I knew it was a long shot, but I gave them a chance. Now it will show up on my door step about as fast as my dealer would get it (if they ordered for me today). |
