I am very tired of waiting for parts. every time i need something for my bike i have to wait a week to get parts. It just sucks this is stuff the dealer should have in stock. They know i stunt my bike and buy all my parts there so i think they should have everything that goes to the handlebars in stock. Buell parts a usually cheap way cheaper than harley parts so it not like it is a big deal. I want to not have to wait for every part except pegs when i need it. endrant |

Buy spares before you break them since their so cheap,or quit crashing. |

Maybe it would be worth it to forecast and order spares you know you'll need if you wipe out. Like you say, Buell parts are pretty reasonable. There is no way that every dealer is going to stock every part that every rider might need. A huge inventory is a bad thing for a dealer. You on the other hand could round up a few hundred dollars worth of stuff you'll break, new and used. Just a thought. It's hard not being able to ride for a week or two. |

A professional stunter would be expected to have his/her own parts in case of a break. The show has to go on: switch bike or rider, mechanic repairs damage and on with the show. As you get better, you'll need less parts. By now, you know what's most likely to break. Buy guaranteed forever aftermarket parts, modify/improve what you can, ebay/kijiji/craiglist everything else. You already know one source is not to your liking (you can't expect them to stock an entire bike in parts for you), build up your own supply. |

buy a spare bike. rip parts off of it for instant fixes on the rideable one, and you've got plenty of time to replace the stuff on the parts bike. Works great for me. I'll get the parts X1 back on the road sooner or later, but having spare parts is really handy! |

A spare bike is also a plan, but not a wreck. The parts you need will already be broken. You'll need one with a blown engine. |

Same for stunting, same for racing. You SHOULD have your commonly needed spares with you in a box. We have to do it for racing - you should for stunting. It's not the dealer's job. SOME good Buell dealers do stockpile commonly busted stuff - bars, pegs, turn signals, pedals... but those are things that should already be in your garage. If you say that you are serious about stunting, it's time to get serious. |

If you commonly break things, you should stock them, not the dealer. No reason to expect a business to carry overhead on the off chance you might break X this week, but won't break Y again for another couple months or year. |

You guys are making good points, but they ought to stock SOME parts. The only part I've ever found in stock for my 06 Uly at Seattle area dealers was an oil filter. No drive belt, no clutch lever, no rear wheel bearings, not even a valve stem (seriously, they had to order a valve stem). |

No drive belt, no clutch lever, no rear wheel bearings, not even a valve stem (seriously, they had to order a valve stem). This is what you call the School of Hard Knocks. When you have a race in the next few days, you quickly learn that bearings are universal numbers and any bearing store will carry them, often better quality than stock; valve stems are universal, I think there's only two types, any auto supply will have them; aftermarket levers can fit or be made to fit, switch now; belt, if competing, I'd have a spare already. Been there, done that, spent enough to buy a house, and the t-shirt wore out long ago. (Message edited by Iamarchangel on June 02, 2009) |
