I'll be goin to Sturgis this year for the first time. Got a crew of 20+ with 2 class AA rv's and a few vans, trailers, ect. Riding out of Minneapolis. Any tips? Oh, only 2 Buells, everyone else has custom choppers except for the guy with the fastest street legal V-rod in the country (dyno'd at Sturgis last year) |

I am thinking of going too, the main reason is it is the 69th...I love the # and need a T-Shirt! I have never been before either. If I go I will probably ride out. I am thinking of staying at the Chip. I live in SE MN I would love to try to get together for a ride either here in MN or in SD!!! |

Get on the twisties baby and enjoy the ride. Pick your nights to party safe and your early mornings to ride. As the day goes on, the good riding spots fill up. Sturgis is not like Daytona (stoplights or superslab) Sturgis is a riders rally. Most like to party, but everyone loves the ride. Getting there is one thing, but riding while there is what it is all about. Respect the advised speeds in the corners. 20 over the advised speed is normal in many places but not all. Let the experienced riders lead. Have fun and enjoy the respect of all bikes and bikers. It will be an eye opener! |

SD has great roads. Not only do they go through beautiful scenery, but they are in excellent shape (at least they were two years ago). Watch out for the buffalo! |

Lynn and I may go for a few days. There are great roads and a lot to see in that area. I don't do much of the night life anymore. I stay out of the big campgrounds as well. I camp in a friends yard close to the Broken Spoke. It is more about seeing old friends for me. The best time I had at Sturgis, the last time I went, was at the Rapid City convention center where the "official" HD stuff was. Included was Buell Demos outside and Buell displays in the center. You had to be a HOG member to get in but I found a way around that. I got to talk to a young man that helped design the Uly. He started working for Buell in 1999 and was as enthusiastic about the bikes as I was. Make sure you see Devils Tower, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse and stop in the small towns along the way. Ride through Spearfish Canyon at least once. The people in the Dakotas are great people. Unfortunately places like Deadwood that are great to visit will be crowded with bikes and MCs.I stay off the roads at night. Frank |

Going to an Adv rider deal in Colorado at the end of July and may take the long way home through Sturgis. Depends on my work schedule. |
