I was barely able to make the stock cables fit with my super wide pro-taper bars with a few tweaks, I would imagine clubmans, being so compact to the bike, would also be fine. Just a guess though. |

No idea . Probably something to do with the cafe racer scene as thats where the bars originated from I believe. |

I have Clubman bars, didn't have to change cables but had to get creative with routing them. The angles are hard to work with.

At the dire risk of offending some long time members who are perhaps tiring of looking at pictures of my handlebars, I will repost these which show vintage Tomaselli Adjustable handle bars mounted on my 2004 Buell XB12 SR Lightning. Kindly note the custom made risers and mounting plate which allow the handle bars to be raised so that the stock cables can still be used, and which makes them easier for this senior street fighter to ride.

Those top risers are SWEET! Who makes them? The bottom risers, not so much. ~SM |

Are your bars essentially in the same position as stock with risers like that, maybe just a bit more backsweep? |

Thanks Sword. The bottom risers are just stacked handlebar clamps that I used as a test rig, adding one at a time until I could get everything lined up. The top risers are a set of Joker Machine risers that were made for a Honda Fifty off road bike years ago. No longer made. I got them on eBay after searching for about a year, then had Andy, my local machinist/genius, age 78, modify them, and build the base plate to my design. I am afraid to add up how much money I spent on these handlebars, but what with the risers, the Tomaselli's , the CRG levers, the remote brake reservoir, the traction grips and the mirror, it's very likely north of five hundred bucks. And that doesn't include a dime for my labor. Considering that a set of bars like this includes over twenty different pieces, believe me, I wouldn't have wanted to pay for the time. But then, nothin's too good for my Lil' Blackie, am I right?

Chip - Not exactly. Compared to the stock Lightning bars, the Tomasselli's sweep much more sharply down, and aft. Close your eyes, and hold your arms in front of you in a relaxed position. Then open your eyes, you will very likely find that your arms are at about a 45º angle and swept back. Very much like the position of these bars. The advantage of that, is that the arm muscles are virtually totally relaxed when the bike is underway, reducing the unwanted inputs from the body to the bars. Make any sense?

Threadjack: Ustorque, is that the Kick Ash air box you have there? If so, they're REALLY making them darker now. Mine's almost totally opaque. ~SM |

They were made to fasten to a bike with standard bars, to approximate the look and feel of clip-on bars. |

Anyone running Jota/Laverda Bars? |

I ran Jota Laverda bars on Ol' Yaller, my XB9S. They were not that great, and were only brazed together, so they came apart in a crash, or even in the trailer. They were pretty cool though, and are much better than current replica's which do not fit on a Buell, and are not nearly as well made as the original.
I ran them upside down compared to the original Laverda installation. I think I may still have them, but they need to be rebuilt.

Yup. On the way to MB3, I jackknifed my "new" trailer, sending the bike crashing to the side of the trailer and breaking the bars. I was in Roanoake at the time, and I was really considering turning back and going home, but for some reason I did not. When I got to TWO in Suches, Bad Webbers were all over the bike, helping me remove the bars. We got them welded up across the street at an air conditioning shop, if I recall correctly, and I was back on the road before sunset. Thanks guys. Can't beat a Buelligan. With a stick. Thanks for remembering that Glitch. |

Ustorque, no, I see yours is quite transparent. I was talking about the one I just bought. It's almost completely black... you can just barely make out the servo on tiop, and maybe catch a glimpse of the filter from the right angle. Kinda' disappointed in it. But when I went to order it, the name had been changed to "Hercules" instead of "Kick Ash"... same part number. Dealer said it had a note that the part had been updated. ~SM |
