Set the run switch to on; turn the ignition switch/key to on. Then rotate throttle full open, hold for a second, then back to full closed, hold for a second, repeat two more times, turn ignition switch/key to off position, then back to on, done. Bike runs perfectly. WAY to go Buell!

Really??? Are the steps any different if you put in the race computer(whole kit)?

The above has nothing to do with resetting the TPS on your bike. You need ECMSpy or similar. Race kit has nothing to do with it. Someone who knows what they are doing hook a brotha up! (I'd help, but it's a looong ride!)

He inquired about a tps reset.
Page 4-8 of the service manual states how to zero (reset) tps.

Yup, and if you get a service manual for his bike and not yours...it will show a completely different procedure!

I would consider putting in the exhaust and air filter in then riding down to Bear Mt. While up there put in the ECM and reset the TPS. If you put in your Race ECM then ride it, it may run like ass until you reset the TPS.

The front fairing comes off the XBR pretty easily.

Yeah, Damnut, I wasn't sure how it would run or how far I could ride it without the reset. The computer is under the front fairing???

yea right above the headlights. You only have to unbolt a couple of things, your mirrors, blinkers and the 2 bottom bolts of your windscreen. I think that is all to remove the front fairing.

Ok, Hammer offered to help but I don't want to get too involved as we would be out on the road doing this. I also don't want to impose too much, I just asked for a tps reset not a teardown! : )

Yes. If you do a little digging, or look at the ECMSpy tuning guide, you will find the process for our bikes. Very different from the '08s.

LOL Saintly helped me give you head. Quick tear down at Bear Mtn not an issue. Exhaust and filter should take less than an hour so you should be ready for wednesday.

I just watched in amazement on how fast they yanked that bike apart, you would think there was a chopshop or something going on at night.

Also, I can do the TPS reset for you if needed, I just am busy with work and riding for the near future.

No prob, Bob.

You guys with your fancy-schmancy new engines get the easy way out. We need computers and cables and software to do our TPS resets. ; )

during the Buell day at Cycle Connection in Joplin, MO the XT I was demoing fouled a plug bad enough that it would only run on one cylinder. One of the techs came out and showed me a procedure built into the ECM that will fire the plugs without injecting fuel or turning the engine over. After a few seconds of firing them the extra fuel made a pop out of the airbox and she started right up.

It was something like turn key on, hold WOT, then flip ignition on. I'm sure the manual lists the exact procedure, and pretty sure it only works on 08+ bikes.
