Hi

I just recently bought an xb12 muffler to replace the busted one on my xb9, I know this sounds stupid but it was a good price and available quick.

I was wondering if anyone has done this before. I know the xb12 muffler has a valve that the xb9 does'nt, but do I need to weld it open and lock the valve closed?

I've been informed that if I lock it open I will lose torque in the mid rpm range but don't know what the effects of locking it closed are.

I just need some advice on what would be the best thing to do?

Thanks everyone

Safety wire it open, ride for a day.
Safety wire it closed, ride for a day.
Choose which works best for you.
That's what I'd do anyhow.

or if you have the time later on. you can get the xb12 harness, ecm, actuator and cable and reprogram the ecm to acommidate the xb9.
i wonder if there would be any benifit for the xb9 for torque. just a thought.

If you're gonna cut it open to remove the valve you might as well rebuild it while its apart.
