...to ride the bike today that is.

We had a gulley washer last night, so I figured what the hell, that's probably over with for now. Wrong. Gotta love FL weather in the summertime.

Today: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Some of the storms could produce small hail, gusty winds, and heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 89. East southeast wind around 6 mph. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

+1 But it was nasty yesterday here. The streets of Tampa have piss poor run off. There was 3-4 feet of water in the roads. Luckily I made it back to Lakeland just as the sky opened up.

The news this morning said it rained 3 inches just north of Polk City yesterday..man oh man do we need the rain..I have lived here all 54 years of my life and it has NEVER been like this...some of the lakes in Polk county are 5 feet low...we need some tropical weather...not hurricanes...just some good slow moving tropical storms.

if it aint sprinklin, my buell I shall be tinkerin.

I live next to a major river by the great lakes, floods throughout the year regardless of season.

went through water the one year up to pegs for about 4 miles. it was either that, or wait out in the street for the storm to pass....rather take my chances and use some of the talent I have learned mudding.

Wimps. I live in upstate NY and don't even have a car. It was pissing rain on me when I got home at 3am last night, and it was pissing rain when I left for work this morning. I am going to the mall later to buy gifts, and odds are it will still be pissing rain. There is a flood watch in effect, woopdie do.

Once it started hailing on me in July, that freaked me out.

I use it to drop off large packages to the UPS store, does that count?

Oh and I was too cheap to mail a birthday card so I rode 130 miles each way to deliver it by hand. : )

Drainage in Tampa on the streets? You got to realize you have to travel at least fifty miles to get to twenty feet of elevation above sea level. I lived there for seventeen years. I was always happy that it was warm rain. Riding in two feet of seventy five degree water is better than two inches of forty degree water.

Fast1075, where did you find a lake more than five feet deep when it is full in Polk County? I fished a lot of them, many never went more than four feet, even at a mile across.

...and ended up getting soaked this evening about 4 miles from the house. It's all good though.

I really don't mind riding in the rain, it's everything else that makes it less than pleasant. Spray coming up from cars, the fact that everyone drives less skillfully than normal when it rains here, morons pointing at you as if to say look at that retard, etc. It wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't wearing my work clothes under the jacket and pants and didn't have the company sponsored electronic devices in my backpack getting wet as I sat there waiting for 7 light cycles because no one wants to go once the light turns green.

The Buell handles the rain great and the Stradas didn't slip at all, not even on the white stop bars.
