I was wondering if my suspension could use a bit of adjustment and answered my own question 2 days ago. A nice 90 degree left turn, with around a 100 ft. radius, rated at 15 mph. I came in hot (or so I thought) at around 45 mph (this is a VERY familiar turn), chose my line and went for it. The bike settled right in, and I got a good hard roll-on on my exit. Holy confidence inspiring. Makes me wonder if every bike I've ever owned did'nt have bad suspension. Can't wait to take an advanced course to freshen my street skills a little further! AND, I scrubbed 3/4" off of my chicken strips! |

Gunut- + 1 on the suspension adjustment AND the experienced rider course. I just took another ERC on my city-x about a month ago. Adjusted suspension per the service manual specs. OMG, world of difference with cornering performance! One of my coaches waved me in after a run on one of the cornering exercises and told me I looked great, but was missing the full leathers and knee sliders. Great confidence builder!!!! Can't wait to do a track day when the schedule permits! B. |

I did that once... went into what turned out to be a VERY hard left turn heading up a mountain. I realized too late that i was going way faster than i was prepared for, and I either pushed in harder or smacked a vertical rock face. Serious pucker moment, but the bike acted like it was nothing. It settled, and literally glided through. Totally blew my mind. I knew then the bike was WAY more capable than I will ever be comfortable with! ~SM |

I knew then the bike was WAY more capable than I will ever be comfortable with! Yeah, pretty much sums it up...but I'm a chickenshit unless I'm following someone. |

I'm a chickenshit all the time! I trust my bike, and my tires, but I'm always paranoid that there may be a little bit of debris or something in the turn that I didn't see, something that would break my traction. That fear keeps me pretty tame. ~SM |

I'll repeat it,"It's the best bike I've ever road". Goes beyond me on the street. Last fall a neighbor blew their leaves into the street on a curve on my street (well my corner). I found them a little late and pulled off a sweet both wheels sideways slide without slowing or going down. I felt like I was Rossi in the big corner and also knew 15% was blind luck, 50% the man upstairs, and maybe 15% skill, at least 20% was Buell. Makes me wonder though, Is it like 4WD, just gets you stuck deeper in? I don't know, I've never got any of my jeeps stuck. |

jeeps are always stuck, thats why they make winches for them. and s-10's anyways..... +1 check your suspension when you purchase your ride. make life easier, and more fun. |

Dang Cluthless...I always thought they made Jeeps to pull out stuck S-10's.. And I HAVE had my Jeeps stuck...I sunk the MudDawg Cherokee clean past the doorhandles on several occasions...and the Comanche nearly as deep...thank goodness for Der Schnorkel...and silicone sealer |

I scrubbed 3/4" off of my chicken strips! And to think, you may squeeze out even more lean angle if you start doing track days. (Message edited by boltrider on May 14, 2009) |

I've had them past the axles in mud and over the hood in water, sand in the desert, etc. I've always considered a winch extra weight. I've pulled an s-10 out with a strap. I run open difs and no lift. Only time I got stuck was in an armor personnel carrier that the motorpool decided to unhook the 4WD on. I'm just not rich enough to take on things that will high side me. I guess I'm getting old. Sorry for the threadjack Gunut75, We return you to the Sweet Buell, Hiney Saving, Limited In My Mind, Thread. |

I love the handling of that bike so far. But I still have to get used to it a bit more since I use to corner way faster on my old 97 gixxer but I think the difference in riding posture is what I need to get use too because sometimes I'll think that I went pretty hard and low in the corner and then look at my tire and realize that I still have lots of room where I use to have no chicken strip before and funny enough I didn't have any on the supermoto as well which is pretty similar riding posture so go figure, my suspension is adjusted to my weight but I might go a bit more firm soon to see. |

you should check this thread out if you think your getting to "aggressive" for the settings that the factory has provided you with. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/384 2/107725.html#POST779561 using those settings proved to me that steering dampers and head shake are for guys with big wallets and no tools/manual. my s-10 had a window text on the front that said "JEEPS ARE YUMMY" and a 355 ci. 1977 trans am motor in it, and up on 11 inches of lift. I did get stuck quite a bit but I just like to rib the jeeps! "if your so G*&$% Damn badass then pull me out jeepers!" lol, all in good fun (Message edited by clutchless on May 14, 2009) |

My CJ7 runs a 406 chevy that I built for bottom grunt. 33's, 7 inches of lift, open axles. It was great fun, pulled a lot of other Jeeps, Ramchargers, Yodas through some deep stuff. Totally wiped out the AMC drive train and three tires at Tellico a few years ago. Put it in the shed with only one tire still on a rim. Gonna have to revisit it one of these days as time allows. |
