I was just looking at a picture of an '04 XB12S and noticed that the two oil lines that lead from the engine to the oil cooler now have a clip that keeps the lines separated. I have an '03 XB9S and do not have this clip on my oil lines. Needless to say, without the clip, my oil lines (and clutch) rub together. Looking at the shop manual, I'm supposed to have 1/8" - 1/4" clearance between these three, but they're all bunched together in a happy little rub-fest. Does anyone know if I can just add this clip, or do I have to re-route the oil lines?

If you're talking about this, just go ahead and put a clip there if you have one. If not, the dealership should put one on there for you. They did for a friend of mine, no charge.

Thanks for the info guys, I ordered the clip -- my new question is: "are the oil hoses routed differently on the newer bikes?" I don't have a newer bike near me (the local Buell dealer here in FL doesn't have a XB on the floor!), so I can't compare directly, but it seems that the lines aren't the same. Did they change the lines/part numbers, or are they just routed differently? thanks in advance, Paul |
