984 , smooth, predictable, even delivery. bullet with butterfly wings. my buddy lights up my 12 on his 9 cause hes got more control and weighs about 50 lbs. more than me. weird, doesnt add up to the power to weight ratio, but does tell truth into the "performance driver" modification. 1202, notchy snorting beast, same kinda grunt, less delevery more explosion. more like a sawed - off shotgun than a rifle. a bazooka on a red wagon not everyone wants a bazooka, and the 9s are the perfect way to do that, I will miss them if they go, and dont even have one. The 984 engine came out first because all they did was take a Blast engine and add a cylinder to it.Of course everyone wants more power thus the 1203 was soon added. |

Sloppy's Theory of the 984: To fieled test the new helical gear transmission before rolling it out to the 1200 engine and to the remaining HD line. (Message edited by sloppy on May 07, 2009) |

American Sport Bike Sells a XB12 11% Primary gearing reduction Kit. http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/A17150.html That is the stock 984 gearing. I have never seen it done. I wonder how it really effects performance? |

Many people have it and I'm planing on doing it soon too. From what I read it makes the 12 even more a torque monster and everyone that has done it love it. |

And some people use the engine sprocket and chain from a "12 to reduce the rpm on a Blast...it reduces the high gear rpm by 500 rpm at the same speed compared to the stock setup. I want a "12 stroke lenght crank for my Blast...with the "big" bore kit...it's 44 cubic inches and around 60 hp with a good head and cams....but that is mega bucks...and a Blast just ain't worth that much money. Oh this is could turn in to a plan. You see I also have a 2002 blast that might use the sprocket and chain from my XB12. So two question come to mind: Is the sprocket and chain in the blast the same as 984? Likewise are sprocket and chain interchangeable 02 blast and 07 xb12? What do you think? |
