Hi All, A new (future) buell owner here with a question. I am looking at a 2005 CityCross with only 800 miles on it. It seems the lady bought it new, rode for the summer and got pregnant. Her husband rode it once or twice each summer since then but only put on about 100 miles. $5500 seems like a good price to me but I was not sure if it sitting for so long without being ridden was bad for it. Anyone have any thoughts or do you think its a good price? |

I bought my 03 XB9R in May 2007 with 9k miles on it. It had been sitting for 2 years because the previous owner got a DUI and lost his license. I think his wife finally nagged him to get rid of it. I got it for $4000 with a Buell leather jacket which was too big for me and I sold on Ebay for $125, a service manual, helmet, and H-D tie downs. He put fuel stabilizer in the tank before storing it. After I finally ran that tank out cruising around my neighborhood (I was teaching myself to ride) and filled it up with premium it ran great. Belt broke a month later (don't know if that was related to storing for so long?) Other than that, no problems at all. Sounds like a deal to me. (Message edited by zatco81 on May 01, 2009) |

Nice find, now go get a vasectomy, it sounds like that bike has a habit of getting people pregnant. |

thanks for the info, I thought it was a good deal too but kept thinking that it has sat for a long time. I guess i will find out on tuesday night. and as for cityxslicker, i cant get preggers but my wife can and that may not be a bad thing. i will post up some pics if i bring it home. |

Even if its not running now.. its probably a fuel pump and fuell injector cleaning away from being cherry. I've been having fuel system problems on almost everything since mandatory ethanol. |

thanks everyone. i rode the bike home last night about 80 miles. the first 50 miles seemed good but i started to feel a slight miss while crusing at 70mph. this happened inconsistantly and was only noticible when paying attention. i figure it needs a bit of a tune up, plugs, what not...the fuel was 93 oct and was fresh. would putting the fuel injector cleaner in due any harm?? |

I run fuel injector cleaner every now and again. I dont use the whole bottle at once. I have 18K on my ticker now. I bought mine with 5k last year and it had also sat for about a year before I got it. I would also put the NGK iridum plugs in. It made mine run perfect. Part# DCPR9EIX |

Plugs are probably a big part. Check tires and brakes. Put a synthetic oil in to be safe and ride it like you stole it! |
