I used amsoil for the first time on my 05 xb12r and noticed the engine is louder than normal almost like a knock. There's only 5k on the bike. Is that normal? |

What weight oil are you using? If it is too thin, it can make for a noisier engine. |

I would check the Primary clearance. Or have the dealer do it if you trust them. |

I think I heard once that somebody experienced something similar with Mobile One. I have heard that Royal Purple is extremely quiet and runs very cool, thats what Ill be putting in with my 1000 mile service (going to be like a 1500 mile service since they are all booked till the middle of May and I cant just stop riding ). |

There was a tech bulettin about the primary compensator nut coming loose, I had a knock that was louder than normal at 9000km, Took it to the dealer asked them to re-tighten to 250 ft/ib and bobs your uncle the knock is gone. Do a search for the tech bulettin. |

Shouldn't ignore knocks (unless you are unmodded under warranty But.. I notice more valve noise with synthetics. |
