Skin, I do but thought it would be equally petty to try and get it deleted. Do you think it should only be used on the backfire board? |

Ah, this one turned quite interesting. Personally, the best quote I have ever heard about freedom of speech in the US came in the movie The American President. The line was something like defending the right of someone to say that which would make your blood boil...hits the nail on the head. Many have died defending our right to say what we want. To all of them, male and female-we are all indebted. With regards to our neighbors to the north, they certainly have different views on things than we do. A friend of mine in Vancouver tells me that in Canada, if someone steps on your toes, YOU apologize. To me, that is patently crazy. If somebody steps on my toes, they should be apologizing. Our neighbors to the north also do not have the death penalty. A crazy man takes a sword to some folks on a Greyhound bus, beheads somebody, and then proceeds to eat part of his victim. That person would be strapped to a gurney fairly quickly here with a nice warm IV in his arm. Here, barring a felony conviction, you are free to own a firearm. In many states, including mine, you can apply for a permit to carry a concealed pistol. My Canadian friends think that is absolutely nuts. Canadians tend to believe that everyone is rehabilitatible, where we give a life sentence without parole, you gonna die in the joint. ( I always tease my Canadian friends whenever there is a heinous crime and we get to talking about it that they if that was in Canada, the perpetrator would get a good stern talkin too!!) Bigger question is, which is right and which is wrong? Answer-they and us are both sovereign countries-and they are right for them, as we are right for ourselves. |

if "The Other Toy" reads this...well it was nice knowing you! She's read it, she thinks my stickers funny. She's ummm...let's call it open minded. |

Here, barring a felony conviction, you are free to own a firearm Here in Canada as well. Including hand guns. However you will never get a concealed carry permit here (although there is a provision for them under the law). As for the death penalty I think we will see that return in Canada. It's been about 40 years since we executed anyone and I would not have a problem pushing that button myself. But then again if you stepped on my toes I would be expecting YOU to apologize Your absolutely right about both our countries being different. I spend about 1/2 the year in America and very much enjoy my time there as I do my time here at home.

Ok...maybe some of the stickers belong on the Backfire Board....but none of them offend me...in fact, my father was so skilled in the art of the 4 letter word that Turkish sailors traveled around the world to learn from him ....he was the only man I ever knew that could speak on a subject for hours and never use a single ordinary word..he single handedly invented entire new classes of cuss words...I have inherited the gift myself, but I have great self control and only use the gift when appropriate. (most often by request in a very redneck and humorous manner). (Message edited by fast1075 on May 06, 2009) |
