Here she is guys. This is the firebolt I picked up in December and it is finally complete. So let me know what you all think, good bad or otherwise. As promised I told you guys I would give you all a cost breakdown so here it is. In total there were 14 pieces that were painted and there were a total of 15 pieces powder coated. Within that cost I also bought the ZTL2 setup and a new set of Pirelli Diablo Corsa III. Paint 530 bucks Powder coating 586 Parts 2480.94 So in the end I put $3596.94 into parts and painting and coating. The bike cost me 2350.00 (salvage bike) So total into the bike is 5946.94 I have put roughly 120 hours into this bike but its a hobby so that really doesnt count and I still have to send the pipe off to Odie for him to work his magic, as well as put some Buell graphics on it, and some axle sliders (thinking ecosliders from Darkhorse Moto).

Bad first: Flames on the windscreen is like a honda civic with a fart can. Im really not a flame guy so that could be part of it but I just do not see it fitting into your bike. This is the only major thing I dont like about your bike but I wouldnt like it on any bike. I am stuggling w/ the tint of blue but thats not saying I dont like it. I think the blue of your truck would have been more my style (not mine though). I do think your are missing blue from the front of the bike. Just seems like something should be blue like the forks, headlight housings or something. If the tone of black on your frame pucks matched the heal guard would be nice. I would ditch the belt gards and tuck the rear caliper into the swingarm but I think that will all buells. All the bolts should have been black.. atleast in my ill mind. Other then that its frakken AWESOME! Good job.. I love white and blue.. (Message edited by Caféelite on April 26, 2009) (Message edited by Caféelite on April 26, 2009) |

Cafeelite- lol funny thing is, you have the exact same thoughts as I have/had. I have never been a flames guy, but there was something about that screen that I liked, then I put it on my bike and hated it lol....its now slowly growing on me. I also totally agree with you that there needs to be more blue on the front, I think when I get some more cash I will tear the forks apart and have them done in the same blue. As far as the blue, funny thing is, it is the same Dupont candy blue that is on the wheels of Buells- it lost its transparency because there are 5 seperate layers to that frame and swingarm and there is a beautiful metal flake in each of those layers to give it a nice depth on a sunny day. Its amazing how ugly the pearl white looks on a dull day-on a nice sunny day it looks great. Thanks for the input! |

Looks great man! I do agree that the front needs some blue. The only other thing is the exhaust, it ruins the good look of it, but I did read that you were going to be getting it fixed. Amazing work man! Wish I had that kind of talent. I just picked up an 05' XB9R, my first bike, cannot wait to ride it! Good job bro! |

Talloyd519-Yeah, the exhaust does look pretty bad right now. I have the chin fairing but since the muffler is coming off tomorrow I figured why put it on. |

I dig the blue, but how are you going to protect the powder coat from knee wear? My silver frame is already dull from where my knees grip. |

Chris good work !!! If you think it the bike needs a hint of blue then maybe take off the headlight bezel and bring it to a painter. The color can be matched. That may be just enough to bring the balance your looking for. I know what you mean about pearl white. Without proper light it get a antique look effect. The sun hits and its a eye catcher. Funny thing is its the pearl that does it and it will only give that ill effect in white. My son painted a set of XB body work for Erik two years ago the same color as yours. It has the blue inlay. I think the color looks awesome. |

I think it would look a bit nicer if it had a pearl white chin fairing. Other than that, it looks great to me! |

Bike looks great. My .02, I agree that the front needs a little blue to break up all the white. Maybe kept the cooler plastic and scoop black and have done the heel guards in white. Really sweet though. Must be nice having the satisfaction of building it yourself. |

Randomchaos-I do have the chin fairing in white, just not on. Firebolt32-Doing the heelguards in white was something I didnt think of. I may get another set of heel guards and do a bit of experimenting! This project has been my pride and joy since December. I cant wait to bring another Buell back to life. Dana- You wont believe me when I tell you this, but its actually a green inlay on the paint not blue. Its one of the new Ford colors. Corporatemonkey-Im hoping I wont have that issue, just keep a layer of wax on it and hope for the best. Thanks a lot guys for all the props. Like I said I have enjoyed every minute of bringing this bike back to life. I cant wait to start my next project (hopefully an 1125)! |
