My XB suddenly has an issue with spitting and sputtering at maintenance throttle. If you whack the gas wide open it takes off just fine, but when you back off to cruising throttle it spits and sputters like it's missing on one cylinder. The bike idles fine and if you hit the gas hard it goes, which is why I'm confused. The bike has the same gas in it since last October and I need to change the plugs, could this be my problem? Or does it sound like something else like the fueling, or an electrical issue? Schmitty |

I'd drain the tank and changes the plugs. I know gas starts to go "off" after a bit of time passes. |

Yep sounds like plugs to me to, I have an xb12ss that was notorious for running like dodo cruising along but hammer it down and she ran like a scalded dog. Changed the plugs and wham like new again, then after a few days she would run like dodo again. Change the plugs and off she would go again, finally figured out it did not have a race ECM in it when I bought it but had a Jardine and K&N in it and this was causing it to over load the plugs. At least put fresh 91-94 octane gas in and give it a chance. |

Does anyone know the proper part number for the Denso Iridium spark plugs? Schmitty |

Sounds like old gas to me. That gas you have in there is 6 months old, and without stabil, has probably started to break down. Try draining all of it out, and filling it back up with fresh stuff. Ride it for a bit and see if it improves. |

I think I've got the same issue. I know my plugs are fine and leaning toward bad gas. Did a TPS, AFV reset as well as ran my trouble codes. All last week and the week before the bike ran great. I was running low on gas and had to stop at a hole in the wall station that doesn't get much business. I started the bike friday to take the misses out to eat and it ran like garbage. Once it got going it was fine. I'm thinking bad gas. |

The denso plugs are IXU24. Someone check me but I think that is right. Still running mine 3 years strong. |

I see Iridiums come up here often. But never see a sponsors name with them. Any sponsors here sell the Iridiums? |

Sorry, not to take away from our sponsors, but I got my NGK Iridiums (DCPR9EIX) from O'reilly Auto Parts. Like. $6 something a piece. Dunno if you got O'reillys where you're from though... |

So, did you ever put fresh gas in the bike and try riding it for a while? |
