I'm considering buying a XB12Scg or possibly Ss but I'd hate losing my Givi V46. It's a hard lockable topcase which I use for storing my gear securely when I'm not on the bike, or for getting food to go that would spill in a backpack, etc., and I don't know if there's any way to mount this to a Buell. (The XT may be a bit too high for me.) |

You should be able to use a Ventura rack and mod it enough to load a top box on it. I'mm looking at doing that to mount a Hepco & Becker top box on my STT. E-mail Al at American Sport Bike he can hook you up. |

Thepod, did you drill holes into your cheesegrater to mount that? Does it really seem strong enough to not eventually break off? It's an interesting idea though one I'd be wary of. Browsing TwistedThrottle, I noticed this which mounts to "tubular-steel flat rear luggage racks" and fits something like this top-case which is another option. It would mean buying a different top-case but that's OK. Does having a hard top-case lighten the front end (due to wind)? |

Drilled straight through the cheesegrater. Not the grater per say, but the aluminum on the outer rim. It is very solid. I have carried my briefcase with laptop in the topcase on a regular basis. The black square under the mounting plate is hunk of painted wood BTW. The front end is a little lighter with the case, especially when filled, but you can stiffen up your rear shock to compensate This is the case I used. It is cheap, but lockable and comes with the mounting plate and all necessary hardware. http://www.jcwhitney.com/MATTE-BLACK-TRAVEL-TRUNKS /GP_2010969_N_111+10211+600014603_10111.jcw (Message edited by thepod on April 18, 2009) |

Ah, but I just realized it obviously totally blocks the taillight and effectively blocks the blinkers. Givi cases do have LED lighting kits you can put in which for some cases even have turn-signal lights, though not for the V46, but that's still not great. You'd have to somehow extend the reach of the blinkers or mount blinkers next to the license plate, for that to be safe. |

Check out the pics again. There is an accessory brake and turn signal light strip bolted to the lower part of the license plate. Once step ahead of you... This is what I used http://www.fastcycleparts.com/showproduct.aspx?var iantid=55745&aid=10050 |
