I'm about to make an offer of $7100US on an '07 xb12r with about 900miles. Its 4 days away so im going to take a risk and have it shipped, paid for unseen. Its from a reputable Harley dealership and with so few miles, im hoping it wont be a lemon. I need some info first though. I want the dealer to do a first service on it before its shipped out since we have no buell mech's here. About how much does this typically cost? Also, I want to put a can on it and cant decide between the 3 main ones discussed in this forum, drummer, jardine and D&D. My priorities in order are LOUDNESS, low maintenance, price, then performance. And what is the labour cost for all three. thanks!

why is loudness even an issue?
if mine was silent i'd be happy as hell.

If you want loud I think D&D is the only way to go. I have heard mixed things about jardine quality as well as it having a weak (look up the charts, its pretty crazy how much contrast there is) low end.

The drummer is the way I went, looks great, sounds great, runs fine on stock ECM and intake, boosts torque and HP with or without those mods etc... etc...

If you want cheap and good with stock then another one to look at is Special Ops but if you want the loudest pipe possible, D&D or custom.

D&D=LOUD and basically maintenance free the only thing I have heard complaints from was the finish but you could always have it coated or header painted prior to install or even after.D&D ALL THE WAY

You should be able to negotiate that first check up as part of the deal. Rocky's rolled it into the whole safety, tires, etc.

I'd wait until you actually hear the bike first. It's loud enough to me, just right in fact. There's some muffler mods in these forums that you could check out and do yourself.

Ride the bike for the short summer you have and figure on the muffler thing as a winter project. A couple of the builders do exchange so you could send yours when the snow fell.

Unless you do the snow/ice thing, check youtube.

Not sure if you want to give away the location of the bike but you could ask someone on here to go take a look at it for you. Any good dealer does a service/inspection on used bikes as part of the deal.

is the drummer pretty much maintenance free like the D&D? and after looking around I put the D&D on average about $200 more than the drummer, using your stock exhaust. Sound right?

Yes the drummer is maintenance free.

yes it uses the stock exhaust.

yes it is cheaper to buy.

It is a very good pipe but it isnt as loud as a D&D but it is louder than stock.

Stopped by Rocky's today and made a point of asking about used. None. They have two new red lightnings. Call Wayne if you're interested.

Do you have to have safety up north? (For the US people, above a certain point up north Ontario has different traffic regulations) Shops here were strange about the safety check saying only a Harley shop could do it. Out of province safety doesn't count here.

And another province's salvage permit is not accepted here without complete frame measurements by factory trained mechanics.

Don't mean to scare you, just stuff to be aware of and get clear in writing.

BTW, that price is way lower than any kijiji price, may not mean anything, kijiji prices are usually higher than reality.

Just checked autotrader.ca. There's a couple of xb12 including an '05 that looks safetied for $CDN6995 from a shop a little north of Barrie.

thanks Arch, been checking autotrader lots, hopefully more will be posted soon as things warm up. Eagle, where seems to be the cheapest place online to buy the D&D, American Sport Bike? Do you have to remap with the D&D?
