Somewhere in the vast bowels of the forum is a template to aid in the creation of a muffler protector for jacking up the XB. Can someone point me to this template? |

And this is the out line shape of the muffler...
After printing out the template, make darn sure the measurements are correct. It should measure(inches): 7 1/8 at the widest point 4 3/4 tall |

The last 4 I dont know how well they work since I made the kind posted above.I do recommend putting something from the front to the back piece to keep them together.

I used some old inner tubes from the kids' bikes to cover the 2x4's on mine to keep the pipe from getting marred. I used a staple gun to secure the rubber onto the wood. I have used the same chunk of wood for almost 5 years now for not only jacking the bike up but every single pipe I do gets sat in it to get reworked. Holding up well. I have lost count on the number of pipes.....I don't think I want to know the number.... |

How sturdy is the bike on there? Is it just sitting on the wood/jack or is it strapped? |

I actually change tires, etc with it just on the wood. You have to be careful for sure. My jack has outriggers that I attach straps to when I need to do more vigorous work. |

You just need to strap it good.I put one on each peg and one on the bar that goes above the primary and one that goes to the header. You can also put a piece of wood under the kickstand for added safety.Dont over tighten the straps you are not trying to bend anything. |

Kudos for you guys again. How many other bikes can you do this to? Not very many. Not without some serious thinking. |

Question: How do you lift the bike enough to get the jack and template under it? I have a Sears motorcycle/atv jack (looks like the jack in FastXBRs photo). When all the way down, it is approx 5.5 inches off the floor. A template on top would bring it to maybe 6.5 inches, probably more... My jack will not quite slide under the muffler as-is, let alone with a muffler template on top. Is there something I'm missing? Solutions/experience? Thanks! |

Bitbear, Roll bike up on little ramps/bricks till it is high enough in the center. Have someone balance the bike or put bricks under the kickstand. Then sneak under it with the jack and template. You may have to hold template in place under muffler and slide the jack under. |

+1 what Ourdee said I had to do the same just use a block under your kickstand also not just your tires that way its even.If you dont have a friend to help balance the bike this works. |
