I have an 03r with shorty levers, although tolerable, an easier pull would be nice. Just curious if there are any major difference between the few products out there besides price that anyone might know of..... Free Spirits soft clutch, muller, custom chrome clutchlite, etc.... I am concerned if there is any increased wear or adjustment needed with one more than the other. Thanks |

Shorty levers do make it harder to pull. Less leverage. |

Jeff I have had a Muller on my bike for 20K+ miles with no problems. I also have the CRG shorties as well. |

I found the short levers better than the long ones, they give me more feelings in stopping and changing gears... Muller is a good and cheap solutions to have a softer clutch. |

doesnt it have to do with the clutch diaphragm, aka pressure plate? I heard that buell made the diaphragm a bit too strong, and then on the latest bikes they have made them more managable and weaker. I was at a buell inside pass trackday test riding the latest bikes and the pull was way softer on the clutch compared to my 05R. What you can do is go buy a 08 diaphram and swap it out. There is also a hydraulic clutch kit offered from american sportbike, but i have not heard of anyone here that said anything about it so im not sure how good it is.. hydraulics are liquid smooth though (Message edited by ochoa0042 on March 30, 2009) |

Since 2003, the clutch cable has been upgraded and now has a teflon lining. If you are using the original cable that came with your bike, just installing a new cable might be all you need. I recently replaced the cable on my 2004, and it made a huge difference. Make sure to lubricate the end that goes into the lever well to avoid fatiguing the cable at the lever end. |

I think it is only the later model XB12 clutch diaphragm that is lighter. If you have an XB9 changing the clutch diaphragm may not make a difference. The new cables are good at reducing the resistance |

you can switch to an 06+ XB clutch spring. and/or the muller clutch thingy. Its easier to install that the spring but it is more $$. IRRC: the spring is 20% lighter. |
