So what type of bend are you looking for? Like a motocross bar or a dragbar or what? for instance here is a link to someone selling Flander's Bars http://www.sideroadcycles.com/ImportedMotorcycles/ImportHandlebars/ImportHandleb ars.html

Bubba.....Bubba Blackwell runs them on his bikes but there more moto-x there kinda high.I want the width for more control and I want them just alittle lower so its still aggressive but not uncomfortable.

So what your looking for is the JEREMY MCGRATH bend twinwall bar. It has the lowest rise height and the lowest overall height though the width isn't the same as for the fatbars.

SV650 (standard) riders have searched out a couple of different options:
clubman bars
adjustable clubmans.
more clubmans

Some might work on XBs as well.

Bads1,
don't forget to check clearance to the airbox cover on full lock. Looking forward to some pics of your bars (when you decide). Keep in mind the length of the handlebar wiring looms. I wouldn't mind some wider bars to complete the motocross bike feel. It's almost there already. Except it goes way faster...

Speaking of handlebars...

My arms appear to be too short (contrary to any knuckledragger impressions I might have created) and I believe the resulting position is putting strain on my lower back when riding the XB9SL for more than 30 minutes or so.

It seems like most folks are trying to shorten or lower the bars on the Lightning, but I'm looking at doing the opposite. Flanders has a Buell Touring Bar that increases the rise 4 inches and the pullback 2.5 inches.

Anybody have experience with that? I'm concerned about the effects on the bike's handling characteristics...I'm thinking that the making that much of a change could result in dramatic differences, given the geometry of the XB's. I'm also assuming the clutch/throttle/brake/electrical cables and wires would have to be changed, making this a project waaay beyond my current capabilities?

Here's the link if anyone is interested.

Brad; some advise on lower back issues that was given to me:

- start a back and ab strengthening program. Doesn't have to be much, but consistent and every day.

- try to support your body using your legs as well. Moving the footpegs around to find the optimal position helps. Also gently squeeze the seat/tank with your legs helps support your lower back.

Thanks Henrik.

Actually, I had already begun approaching it from that angle. I noticed that when my lower back started hurting, if I put most of my weight on the footpegs for a couple of minutes, my back would feel better. If I stop and get off the bike for just a few minutes, I'm good to go for a while.

I was thinking that some conditioning/exercise might help and have been working on that.

Brad...Henrik is spot on with the exercises in addition to the use of legs.

What you will discover is that weighting the pegs lowers your C/G and makes handling in bad conditions much easier and confidence inspiring.

John there actually not The street fighters there KTM bars and I think there gonna do exactly what I want.Low and kinda wide.If they need to be shortened its nothing a pipe cutter can't handle but I don't think so.Renthal to what I was told makes the bars and they are the exact same color as the 12 frame....awesome.
