can i ecm spy, or by some other means get a 9 ecm to work for a 12 motor? the exhaust servo will not be used either. thanks

Yes, at least with the models 2004+, where XB9 and XB12 share the same ecm types. Just load XB12 eeprom data into the XB9 ecm.
