Welcome to the Clubman's Club, Ozzie. Now experience the heartbreak and frustration of getting it all to work. Not as easy as it looks. I solved the brake line problem by going to a remote sports bike master cylinder and reservoir, by Shindy. I think I may have gotten it from Dennis Kirk. The other hard one is the clutch lever. With the bars mounted low as you have them, you might think about drilling a hole in the side of the windscreen mount as Glitch has done. I mount my bars higher, so I was able to bend the clutch cable to suit. Very tight fit, but it works fine. Here's what it looks like on my bike.
By the way, the CRG brake lever had to be modified to fit the master cylinder modification, so to speak. |

Nice bars, but bummer on the install pains! what is the comfort level leaning in like that? What year FireChicken? I'd say 73... Is it a 455 version? Had one in a younger life! |

the front of my bike is currently apart so i'll throw a few pics up later of the cable routing behind the flyscreen. clubmans on these bikes look sinister and they feel amazing ounce you get a few miles on them. |

o.k. so here we go, i'll try to make it simple, i took a lot of pics for ya. pull the clutch cable out of the tripple tree and route it thru the back of the fairing housing.see pic
pull the cable up thru and work it thru the mess of harness and wires in there.i drilled out the left side of the fairing mount to run the cable out to the lever.see pic
attach back to lever and check for binding.see pic
throttle side is pretty much the same steps. see pics below, just make sure once again for binding.
i was able to leave the brake line outside it just has a very loose "S" bend to it that has no effect on it.
and just a plug for our sponsor Precision Engineering they make a damn nice 2 1/2" machined bar riser that works great for this mod for under $30, and Andy is a great guy to deal with.

if you end up pulling off the front modules to gain access to that bolt, replace the 'security bolts' with some regular allen heads. i doubt any bike thief is gonna see those and not reach for the nearest set of vice grips. |

i couldnt get the security bolts, but i did get the bolt that i needed... got the brake lever on, and made the hole for the clutch, but now it seems like the cable is way too short to put on the lever,,,,did i do something funky (wrong) and this is how i routed it,,,,seems like it doesnt bind, but still

have you loosened up the clutch cable adjuster assembly to give some slack in the cable? |

the S clutch cable is too long. double check, but the R cable should fix that issue. it looks like (from the pictures) you may have drilled the hole for the clutch cable too low.... i did the same thing. just tell them it's a 'lightening hole' not everyone knows the front modules are made of aluminum |

'lightening hole' if thats the case i've shed a lot of weight! |

See this for clutch cable routing. The module has been moved out 1", so you may have different results. I used an R cable and my clipons are lower than yours. I put a thin rod in the perch and saw where it would contact the module, then moved the hole centerline back to allow for the curve of the cable. Also, the spacers give it room. Teddagreek's routing with an S cable may be what you need.

question... i had bought a set of clubmans for my 03 9s... anywyas i had a second stock bar clamp and made risers with steelrisers so to speak... in this pic, i put the risers on the top just to show that the bars would fit without risers... i soon got shorter bolts and ran no risers. now my dilema was the brake line... my brake line was NOT rerouted, and i had no idea where to put it. the brakes felt as if the line had a kink in it... which it probably did. I was not sure what to do at this point. after riding for a whiile with the bars i began to love them. The reason i put this is past tense is because i blew a fork seal by putting too much weight on the front tire. The forks on my bike are hacked up from the previous owner, and i was informed that there are deep scrathces in the fork tube that cause the fork seals to rip. I would really like to put my clubmans back on, but i need a front brake! i think i will be set on the seals as i have gotten them both changed. if anyone has any ideas as to how i should reroute the brake line please let me know... here is another picture, as you can see, i have my clutch cable rerouted through the housing, throttle cables were moved slightly, but the brake line stayed the same. you can see a bend in it which i think caused the lack of pressure. i would like any help because i wunna get this babies back on the buell before riding season! |

Use an XB12R hose and route it like an R. The bend in the pic won't decrease pressure at all, unless it got kinked. Who made your bars, they look great! Would have been less work than my clipons. |

well, they are steel, not chincy aluminum like the frame ...... i'd be more concerned 'bout the bar welds, but not concerned 'nuff to keep it at half throttle. i'm sure if someone had snapped a set, it'd be all over here |

Oz, Like the bars! Looks like a good amount of work to get them to work. The Car is SWEEEET!!! I really miss the one I had. 72 Formula 400 4 speed(also had a 73 350 auto version). To get it now would cost a few more $$$ than back then. Have FUN!!! Kaveman |

If it were me I'd take the Formula , but if you insist on riding in 100 degrees it shouldn't be that bad. I've been on mine in 110 in the CA desert. Just keep moving and don't lug the engine. |
