I have a 2007 Buell XB12Ss that is stock with the exception of a breather re-route & holes in the airbox with a K&N airfilter. Bike was purchased from an Oregon HD stealership. Would there be any reason that my bike would not pass CA emissions? |

There's no 'smog tests' for bikes in California. Whether a bike meets California emissions standards or not is a function of how it was configured when new (50 state, or 49 state,) and is encoded into the VIN. A 49 state bike can be registered here with >7500 miles if purchased out of state by a Ca resident. If someone were to move into California and brought there 49 state vehicle with them it could also be registered here regardless of mileage. There is a VIN and odometer inspection when first registering it. (Message edited by nik on January 30, 2009) |

Motorcycles dont have OBDII ports like cars, so the computer cannot talk to your bike electronically. If you fail the first time, texas law says you have 15days to bring it back for a free reinspection. If it doesnt pass the first time, take out a spark plug and make it run on one cylinder, so you will fool the inspector & the computer |
