My bike came with one, took it off, bike ran smoother without it. |

Wow a Techlusion thread, haven't seen one for a while now.... TFI has been overtaken by ECMSpy which allows you to do much much more tuning of your ECM maps, there really is no contest now and I don't think its unfair to say TFI is obsolete. The only problem I have experienced with ECMSpy is having to drape a tarp over me the bike and my laptop while reading the data (in bright sunshine) at the track...but even that gives you cred despite not knowing what your doing! |

I believe that they are made for open loop systems and cause the ECM to drift all over the place on XBs. I know a few people that were happy with the results, but most of us experienced erratic fueling. |

BTW, they do have a wire that will lock in the map so it does not drift. However, since the XB does not have a MAP sensor, it will not adjust properly for changing weather or altitude at all because the O2 feedback does not work properly. |

exactly! you will notice that you have to adjust the air-fuel ratio every once in a while because depending of the weather and the altitude you ride to, the setting you have might not be good anymore! I had the race plus the TFI, was happy with the performance, but it drove me crazy for the adjustment, so I put back the stock and remapped with Direct Link. now the bike is perfect... |

putting the jardine pipe on tomorrow and will work with Xopti on the tune. Im hoping I can get it to idle a lil bit smoother and have better throttle repsonse I havent been able to see what the bike has yet since its cold and the roads have salt and such on them so i took it out for a ride last week and it seem to be fine but i did notice a stumble/dead spot right off idle, I didnt ride it enough to see if it is doing it all the time but i did notice it so maybe it wasnt warm enough or something. thing is i just bought the pipe for the sound so i hope its not a major pain in the ass to get it to run right after the pipe install, ive heard very good things about Xopti and have talked to him a few times so i hope he can work his magic on my bike. Ive heard guys say after Xopti tuned it it was like a completly different bike and that makes me happy |

For me, TFI just wastes gas. Does nothing for me that I can tell except giving terrible mileage (from 50+mpg to high 30's to low 40's). I have one sitting on my shelf somewhere. Anyone wants it, just pay for the shipping and I'll send it to you for free. |

I believe TFI is designed for open loop systems. It would allow you to add just enough extra fuel. The XB system is just not so compatable with TFI due to the closed loop mode that is neatly entirely dependant on O2 feedback. |

I had one, found it difficult to tune...got rid of it at the first opportunity. I have a power commander now which is better. Nobody local for me to bring it to for tuning, so I'm running a map from someone else. I wish we had someone with a bike dyno around that had a clue. |
