There is a short ride report on an 09' XB12Ss in this months Cycle World. Good article, but not much info on what the guy really thought vs other bikes in it's class. He seemed to like the Long because it's less edgy, but still fun to ride. I doubt if he did any suspension changes to really get the most out of it. |

But did you see their reported MPG? WTF? Worst I ever got from my '06 was low to mid 40s. I USUALLY averaged high 40s, low 50s. Is the new FI really THAT bad?? I thought they fixed that? |

MPG generally increases until Break-in and most of the time past that. |

Yes, it's that bad. My 09 Ss averages low-mid 40's all the time. Even a complete tank at interstate speeds was in the high 40's (75-85 mph and no hard acceleration). |

low-mid 40's all the time. Consider yourself lucky, that's a big improvement over the 08's. |

yep, its that bad. I don't buy the "mileage increases after break-in" bit. I now have 13.8k on my 08 and STILL average 39mpg. |

Averaging almost 40? Averages in the 40's? This is bad? Especially an a bike that is fun to pound on? Seems alright to me. What were they getting in the article? |

I don't have the article in front of me, but I seem to recall they said they averaged 36 mpg. |
