If it will be 1425cc, shouldn't it be called an "XB14"?

I have been considering this for a while but I am still not convinced anyone has found a solid way to fuel it.

All I would need is a $500 crank, anyone want to donate?

Are you referring to the injectors or the map? Map would just require a Power Commander, so I'd imagine you mean the injectors? Please elaborate.

I am assuming that the injectors and Mapping are both going to be problems. The PCIII you are speaking of is/was designed to work with the XL motors

see here

The way I understand it (and I am certainly not qualified for this) is that you cannot make changes within the PCIII to the area of the mapping that affects fuel delivery under 3500rpm and 20% throttle without affecting how the whole system works in closed loop mode or some such garbage.

With larger injectors this may not be as much of a problem as I think it is, but here we are talking about giving a 1425cc motor the same amount of fuel (at idle) as would be correct for a 984cc lump.

The thing is I would think that an independent fuel injection system "wholly" programmable would be necessary to accomplish this along with bigger injectors. There are a few of these systems that come to mind. (ie: megasquirt....) That are do it yourself fully programmable injection systems that are adaptable to however many cylinders you are runnning. I've even read the testimonials where they are moderately easy to construct and install, however the amount of time it would take to map and the need for a dyno and air fuel meter and such would make it a pretty daunting task for a shadetree mechanic. by the way no one on there site admitted to being done tuning the systems....?

Has anyone converted to carb on an XB?

I am just not sure how it will all sort out, and have had more than enough downtime related to the 1200 conversion to be eager to run into this issue headfirst.

I'll be very interested if someone pulls it off! It can't be impossible, but it is going to take a lot of work to make it happen with injection.

Good question to ask Pammy or Aaron.

Maybe the Twelve system has enough lee-way to accomodate the extra, the injectors are bigger correct?

I read some place that it was possible to use injectors from BMW r1150 engines... as they are bigger and apparently fit or are adaptable.

hmmm...I was thinking 50mm downdraft, iirc I had read when converting from FI to carbs you need a larger venturi/thoat/barrel. I would however contact these guys http://www.rceng.com/ about larger injectors or modifying a set of XB12 injectors first. If anyone can figure it out its them.

I've read a lot about the megasquirt. There are a few interesting developments of it too, integrating ignition mapping with the original megasquirt etc. There are, it seems a few Harleys running with the megasquirt. It's way beyond my ability electronically, but it is a very interesting concept. As a bonus you can do your own TPS settings too!

Don’t know ??,

But making a 88” kinda setup I think Nallin have made more than plenty,

I also think making a xb 1430ich, is not really the way most people would go

Maybe "need" is to strong a word, maybe a better choice would be "good idea if you Dual plug the heads"

What info EXACTLY are you looking for Easy?

I have done everything required for this except put the larger throw crank in mine.....

I bought it as a 984cc it now has the 1200cc millenium cylinders, larger throttle body, Powercommander, larger exhaust, .......so on and so on.

When I said I had some concern about Fuel, this is the only thing keeping me from going further,I don't think the powercommander alone can compensate for the added displacement.

Keep digging though maybe someone will post up what you need!

I think the PCIII can manage it but it might need the larger injectors.

Wonder if Nallin has plans to build one soon?

The heads of my XB15 project, the boring was 11.5:1 ans is now 10.8:1. There is more space for the valves for the incoming gasses. We used Baisley valves , black daimond tulipstyle, multi angle.

The picture, left is the original head, right is the XB15 head ..
