I am with progressive, im 21, nothing more than a speeding ticket or two on my record, with an 2005 XB12 and I pay like $750 a year with a lot of coverage. Multi-user policy discount saved me around $40. |

State Farm is supposed to be fairly reasonable because the base it strictly on CC's vs type of bike. I would guess what is killing you is the type of bike as much as the displacement. For example, my insurance on my 08XT is within a few dollars of what it is on my 01 600 Suzi (exact same coverage.) Seriously call all of them, then go with the one that was easiest to deal with one that was easiest to deal with on the phone, if you can swallow the price. I will pay for service, and I have never felt shorted. |

You need to find yourself a classic insurance agent. One with a real office. Head on over and talk to them face to face. Insurance varies so much from area to area, so you really need to have them all checked out. I ended up going through Safeco, because at the time everyone else wanted a 1/4 of the value of the bike a year. It did take a real agent to get a decent rate. |

Geico gave me a fairly good rate. Allstate wanted 3x as much to insure the Buell as it did for the electraglide. My cheapest option turned out to leave the cruisers with Allstate and the buell on its own with Geico.?? Rick |

Check the ads in American Motorcyclist. There are a half dozen who specialize in Moto-Insurance and who can deal with the fact that not all 1000+cc engines are crotch rockets. All of them also offer AMA discounts. |

I am using Electric Insurance and I believe the motorcycle subs to Progressive. I think its was $200 for the year full coverage. And thats in the State of NH with no helmet law and no insurance required. I am 26 and have had a few accidents. |

Just switched from AIG at $996.00 a year to progressive at $324.00 a year. 2005 xb9sx. Is insuring a 12 lots more than insuring a 9? found a good deal on a 12r but not sure if finding a 9 will turn out better in the long run. Me and the wife will be sharing the two so a 12 is really not needed. just happened to find a deal. |

I have my Buell insured with full coverage, $250 deduct, roadside, and I'm at $250 a year. I have our 2 cars, house, "home business" insurance, and an assload of liability insurance due to my wifes childcare business thru the same guy though. American Family Insurance |

I use Foremost. Eight bikes nine hundred and something a year for minimun liability. I'm in Dirty Jersey with a spotless record and a 22 year old son who speeds and crashes occasionally on my policy. |

My insurance (formost) was 400 less a year for a XB9sx vs any other buell.(didnt price out a blast) My agent said the small displacement and upright seating position made it cheaper. |

It seems to me that full coverage rates have a lot to do with the total value of the bike. I have Progressive and back in 05 when my 12Scg was brand new, the cost of full coverage was somewhere between $1100 & $1300. I can't remember exactly off hand. The next year the bike was worth less and the price dropped to under $700. Last year it went down to $360 and that was after lowering the deductible from $1000 to $500. The quickly depreciating value of motorcycles can be a good thing |

I have Geico, full coverage, 50,ooo damage coverage if it hits anything, 250 deductible on the bike if stolen or crashed, comes in at 260 per year. If I drop the comp and just have minimum liability the policy could be $102 |

Geico gave me the best rate. ~$440 a yr full coverage on my XB9R. I priced a 12 and it was about 50 more. If you do call them, give them this promotional code # 88240. If you call and just get a quote, you are helping a Badwebber out. The wife works in claims. (Message edited by xbmacon on January 02, 2009) |

I pay $99 a year for liability through Geico and that's the cheapest they can right a policy for. |

Part of my quoted rate is wonderful New York's little fee.... $36 bucks a year for some pedestrian mandatory coverage for the city types and spread state wide... My little Adirondack town is 36 square miles, 27 miles paved roads and another 25 or so trails for quads and 4 x 4 action...total population of 600 people, lots of deer, a few Moose, wild turkeys and bears... There just ain't any pedestrians....but ya gotta pay.... anything I hit up here generally gets taken home and eaten! |

I just dropped State Farm and switched to Progressive. State Farm was charging over $1100/yr and told me it was because my X1 is a +1000cc sportbike (they don't care about HP) With progressive I've got a $250 deductible, and excellent coverages (can't remember the exact amounts) and it's only costing me $770/yr BTW I'm 22 years old, single, and have one license/tag violation on my record. "I am 32 with a FEW tickets when i was in my early 20's." Most tickets drop from your record after 3 years. When I was 17 a kid on a bicycle rode into the side of my car and it jacked my rates up for the next 3 years. Apparently if a vehicle and "pedestrian" are involved in an accident the vehicle is at fault regardless of circumstances. (Message edited by pkforbes87 on January 03, 2009) |

31, single, homeowner, multi-vehicle and multi-line discounts, 1 at fault in 2005, no tix otherwise. State Farm 09 XB12Ss: 100/300/100 comp/collision/bod inj, $500 ded. rental coverage, roadside assistance, etc. $600 and change per year. My 06 2500HD has the same policy coverage and is just shy of $1200 per year. |
