Since I put the Corbin on, it hasn't been back off. The seating position is better and more comfortable for my 36" inseam, 6', 1" chassis.

I have the select seat and it's seating position is a little bit more forward and it's not as comfortable for me.

buell's custom seat made me ride up against the air box, especially when i didn't want to be up against it.

At my dealership Corbin is a bad word (horrible customer service)

Are you guys on an XB9R or XB12R? I looked at your profiles and see that your bike listed is a XB9S. I have a firebolt, XB12R, little seat ... I am 6' 0" and 175, 34 inseam..

I had a Corbin/Gentry seat, for my custom XLCH back in the early 70's that piqued my interest, they were very cool to deal with and did a great custom one off seat for me, that was before Gentry left the business...

I had the buell custom seat
Traded it AND either 50 or 100$ FOR the Corbin
Would do it again in a heartbeat
The Corbin is WAY better

Never rode the custom. Love my Corbin. I've heard bad things about customer service, but it has been top notch for me. I live close enough to get things done in person and they've even bought me lunch twice and customized my seat with the offer of future modifications for free. I think I'd consider myself a lifetime customer.

I'm a cheap ass.
I'd go for the Buell seat at $100 less than the Corbin.
Also, I've heard awful things about Corbin customer service.
I guess that wouldn't matter, if you had no problems...

I've never had a problem with Corbin saddles. I've used them on various BMWs and my M2 Cyclone all with EXCELLENT results.

When the saddle on my K100 started to tear, it was repaired for free within the warranty period, no questions asked.

The only issue I had with the BMW saddles was the way they retained water after a rain. For some reason, I never had that issue with the Cyclone, even though I got caught in the rain many times. Maybe they've improved the construction since I had them for my Beemers.

If your heart is set on Corbin, get it from American Sport Bike as Al checks them to make sure there is no fitment or other quality issues. Even better is if they do send Al a bad seat, you don't have too lose a finger trying to exchange it! : )

I love sitting on my Corbin, but I hate dealing with their CS. I put a Corbin on my old Suzi and one of the locating tabs was off-center. It seriously took me and my Corbin dealer three months to come to a resolution everyone was happy with, and it was at this point when my dealers Corbin rep was let go. I haven't started into them again about getting it replaced, but I will.

Now all that said, I will still be getting one for my XT in the near future. I just haven't found anything else that is as comfortable to me as a Corbin.

I wonder what the heck happened to their customer service... when I dealt with them, they were stellar, one would think that a reputation like they had with Corbin/Gentry was worth keeping...

But it sounds like they sit well, customer service aside, my problem is my lack of a fat arse... and a desire for a bit of padding down yonder ... if ya know what I mean...

Great info so far...should forward reference to this thread to Corbin...

By the way, I spoke with Mike Corbin ONCE at Americade, and that short conversation convinced me he is an arrogant ass.

I simply asked him why they didn't seal the seams on their stitching so the saddles wouldn't absorb so much water in the rain. He very snottily replied "Well if you'd spray the saddle with silicone spray you wouldn't have that problem!" and just walked away.

I'm sorry, but when I pay a premium price for what is supposed to be a premium product, I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO!!!

I have the Pegasus. I like the look and the padding holds up way better than the stock seat. I can ride for the full distance of a tank of juice on the highway, about 160 miles. Last 20 miles are uncomfortable but bearable.

On the stock seat anything over 110 miles was screaming agony.

The Buell custom seat actually made it harder to reach the ground raised me up by at least an inch.
With the Corbin its like your IN the bike.

I have both the select seat and the corbin for my m2.

Today was the first day i used the corbin and needless to say, the select seat will not be going back on the bike.

Granted its a different bike, but i felt the corbin was head and shoulders about the select seat.

Just heard back from Corbin. Their factory will be closed for the next three weeks due to the holidays. Oh well... it's not like I'll be taking any long rides till the Spring thaw anyway!

Just make sure you order it while it's still cold outside. Spring/summer makes for a nice long turnaround time. I waited 5-6 weeks on my last one.

Don't bother contacting Al... apparently they're done dealing with Corbin according to a post I just read:

I've got a Corbin coming Tuesday direct from the factory, but I'll never do business with them again. I ordered my seat the Monday before Thanksgiving and was told the seat was in stock at the time of the order. Nearly a month later, after finally getting someone at the FL location to talk to me (CA hung up on me), a woman in customer service admitted they pushed my order back because "we had people who said their seats were for Christmas and we had to get those out first".

I just read Al's response to my question on the Corbin... very discheartening but somewhat expected after the board input...

I did a search this AM and found that Corbin/Gentry is a separate company, in Connecticut... I think this was the company I dealt with back in the 70's, I had made an incorrect assumption that Gentry had left..

I will contact Corbin Gentry about a custom saddle for my 12R this week

If the results from Corbin/Gentry... a company that did fine saddles for my old bikes I will let the Buellers here know..

I ordered a seat from Corbin for my Sportster in the mid 80s. After waiting and waiting the seat finally arrived just before "Bike Week". The stitching on the seat was off center, by a bunch. I called to ask about making it right and was told to show it to them at their display in Daytona. I got to their display where I had the displeasure to meet Mike Corbin in person and take a ration of his obnoxious bull sheet about my being too picky.
I have learned several life lessons from that experience:
Corbin products are WAY overpriced
Corbin has extremely bad customer service (want a 2nd opinion, contact "Pirates Lair")
I wouldn't buy/use any Corbin product ever again
On the aforementioned day I learned the true meaning of "SCHMUCK"
Sometimes crowds can save your life

I wonder if anyone has ever asked Mike if he's always such a DICK to his customers? Because I've never met ANYONE who's had a positive experience meeting him.

If you are a prick I don't buy from you no matter what your product is. Corbin is not the only game in town and it will catch up with them.

BTW I have rode 350 miles one night on my Buell Custom seat and could have went another 100 no problem.

I think this thread needs to go to Corbin..

Not that they apparently give a RA about customer service after the sale..

Sad... up pops yet another arse in American manufacturing.
