So I put on a special ops pipe last night, what will I need to do next? Everywhere I look it says I will need to reset the Tps. Why does the tps need reset? Do you reset the tps directly after swapping the exhaust, or after a long ride, or as soon as the bike starts running rough? Why would the tps have anything to do with the exhaust change, wouldn't it be more of an AFV issue? Please fill me with knowledge. Jeff |

TPS reset is if you change your ECM, which it sounds like you didn't do. Occasional TPS resets are good anyway |

Get the TPS, even with the stock ECM. The race chip helps the motor run rich, you just want to be sure you're not running too lean. |

FWIW, I put a Drummer on my '06 Uly and didn't reset the TPS because of it. First time I started it with the new muffler, I had a trip to take, so I did 1 hour out and 1 hour back on the highway, steady cruise, to reset the AFV. Been working like a champ ever since, no issues. You should be fine without a TPS set, unless you changed the ECM. It can't hurt....but shouldn't be required based on a muffler change. |

Thanks everyone! I rode it tonight for the first time with the pipe, the torque increase is definitely noticeable! Ran like a champ also. Did have to take a couple turn overs to start, not sure what that was about, any thoughts? |

I know with mine it took a few minutes and a few starts for everything to adjust. Mines a Drummer, but I would think the same would apply, no/yes? |

Get the TPS, even with the stock ECM. The race chip helps the motor run rich, you just want to be sure you're not running too lean. I don't think this is correct. The o2 sensor controls how rich/lean the bike runs. A TPS reset never hurts when done properly. It's the AFV that may change on the bike, but yeah, just a lil highway driving will allow it to adjust itself correctly. |

I have to agree on the race ECM bit - AFAIK it's mainly remapped advance curves for spark, and a different rev limit. Any ECMspy'ers out there who can confirm from looking at the maps? |

Any ECMspy'ers out there who can confirm from looking at the maps? the only race eeprom i've seen for the xb9 has more fuel in some places compared to the 07 stock xb9 maps, but it's not rich everywhere like you'd expect. It has a lot more timing advance at 3000rpm at all tps settings. I've read a lot of complaints of increased vibrations with the race ecm, probably from the added timing. As far as I can tell there is only one race eeprom for all years of the xb9, at least all the ones available for download have the same maps. |

If you don't remap the ECM I wouldn't see that a TPS reset would be necessary. It might be good to do it in case it is out. Reseting the AFV would be good, but this will will adjust itself with steady riding at 3200 rpm I fitted a Drummer today and it took a couple of goes to start it when usually it is first kick. (After the first start it was fine.) I have no idea why that would be. |

Even if you remap the ECM I wouldn't see that a TPS reset would be necessary Fixed that for you. |

The first map I loaded into my bike was a DL blm file that was prepared by someone else. After loading it the bike virtually wouldn't run until I did a TPS reset. Could that be different to loading an ECMSpy map? Anyway now I do a TPS reset whenever I load a different map. |

The fuel map has nothing to do with the TPS. My assumption is that when you reflashed your ECM, you changed more than the fuel map, and it changed the value of the TPS. |

"I don't think this is correct. The o2 sensor controls how rich/lean the bike runs." That's one of the biggest differnces between the stock ecm and the race ecm. The Race chip runs the motor rich. |

The fuel map has nothing to do with the TPS. My assumption is that when you reflashed your ECM, you changed more than the fuel map, and it changed the value of the TPS. That's my guess too Froggy. The blm file may contain more than just the fuel maps and spark tables |

I don't know, either. I believed TPS oriented actual sensor & throttle plate position with ECM. However, recently Mike (xopti) sent me a new map. With it, he advised me NOT to re-set TPS or AFV after installing that new map. Mike please, say more about this ... |
