I am in desperate need of another tire on the rear of my XB9R. I bought the bike with Continental attacks on it. The front is still good. What do you guys think about buying race take-off tires as a replacement? Its Christmas and Santa already brought me the bike... |

I would stay away from them unless you are doing your first track day. You have no idea how many heat cycles they have been thru.... there is a reason they got taken off.... |

Racers do a couple of laps and replace the tires and resell them to buddies. My buddy buys them that way. If you look at the wear indicator, there's still a lot of meat left, just not good enough for competition. I'm considering getting hooked up to that, 5,000k to a set can get pretty expensive. |

As long as you dont push the bike to its limits alot, and arent planning on any trackdays, then go for it! Make sure they arent something like a Pilot Race tire. Stuff more along the lines of Pilot Powers would be good. Those DOT race tires can be a bitch to warm up. |

Haven't met with the guy yet, but he says he has super corsa's, avon's, mich- m2's. Thanks for the replies. Im going for it. $90 for a set. (Of course It would be helpful if they were free, but dont see to many people willing to do that. My back is getting to the critical point.) |

Go there and check them out. Look them over real well. My guy is a friend of mine, so it makes it easier. They look scary and all, but they will treat you well. Just be careful when you put them on. They will be a little squirrely at first, but they'll straighten up. |
