Based upon my experience using so-called "high performance" brake pads, I strongly advise staying with the stock pads, at least if you value your rotor.

I value my life more than my rotors. I would place safety at a premium. If the high performance brake pads can stop quicker and provide better stopping control, then I would gladly use them. So, my question is, do the brake pads identified by Brian provide better stopping power/control over the OEM counterpart?

Your stock pads are more than capable of locking up the rear wheel even after the tires are nice and toasty - why on earth would you need more stopping power?

Yeah we(I mean Bubba) figured that out.
I was going by the misinformation in the brochures.
My mistake(?), sorry.

Ride to the edge!
Never trust the brochures again

One thing to keep in mind about the performance pads. They don't always work the best until you get them warm. For the street stock pads are just right. On the track where you can keep the pads hot, performance pads are the thing to have since they resist glazing better then the stock pads.

Has anyone actually used EBC double HH sintered pads? If so, what's the verdict? I think these pads are specifically designed for street use.

The EBC pads are by far the best pads I have ever used on my '98 S-1W. Just make sure you follow the break-in procedures.

I've ridden both a 9 and a 12 for a few thousand miles and found that the 9 had better feel and braking. I put this down to a better bleed, and perhaps better fluids - which I will swap out in another 500 miles or so. I'll post observations then but can't imagine there is a big difference as the parts and weights are just about the same.

In any case, thanks Daves for the race ECM - now the 12 really moves!

Happy holidays to all!

I have used the EBC double hh and loved them great initial grab and staying power.

Bled the rear brake - problem solved. Soft spongy feel went away. Rear brake works so much better - can even lock the rear wheel.
