For the record,I plug and play street, track, and race, never a problem. However, Carbon, I think you have stumbled upon the true answer to this age old conundrum. "the people that suggest that you plug it and go are the ones that have used plugs" (sucessfully) "the ones that say you are faced with certain death are the ones that have not." What about the pluggers who met their certain death with a plug? Who is going to be their voice ? Huh ? |

Thanks for all the advice guys. I could't find anybody to plg it and don't know how to take off the tire, so I ended up getting a new tire. I figured it had 4K miles on it and if I had to pay somebody to take it off and put it back on, I mught as well get a new one. What I have noticed is that no one seems to have had a plug fail. Guess I need to learn how to get the tire off for next time. |

You don't have to take the tire off to plug it. You don't even have to take the wheel off of the bike. It literally takes five minutes. The next time i plug one I will take pictures showing how to do it step by step. The kits are available at any decent auto parts store. I use "Camel" brand and they seem to do the job. |

I carry a Moose CO2 inflation kit,and a cheap plug kit. They work great, easy to install. Never a failure in a typical nail sized hole or smaller. check out link

There are photo websites that show how to plug a tire. They're car tires but the process is the same, I think. http://www.diylife.com/photos/fix-your-car-tires-slow-leak/ I just ran over a nail and have a slow leak and will try to plug it. Never done it before and hope it works. It seems like the hole you punch through it after removing the nail is pretty big, though. (Message edited by moonrunrs on December 19, 2008) |

Good luck moon. Let me know how it goes. Are you going to use the plug, the patch, or the combo? |

I'm going to try the plug and see how it works. The nail is really small, like a carpet tack. I'm curious to see how that piece of string can make an airtight seal in the hole, especially since it's right in the middle of the tire. |
