Hey Guys, Can you offer any advice for washing around the engine/transmission area of the bike? I find it kinda tough to get my hands in and around there to wash it all. thanks in advance... | ||

Harley has a sample package with bug remover and wheel cleaner spray bottles that I've used. These are good for oily or extra dirty spots and used with most any good quality automotive car wash soap will help clean up bare & painted engine cases pretty good without damaging the finish. | ||

One word. S100 That stuff works great. Gets in all the tight spots and cleans really well. Just make sure you use lots of water to rinse, and use a leaf blower or ride the bike to dry it off. Jody | ||

S100 works as stated. A cheaper method is straight (undiluted) Simple Green sprayed on, let it sit for 2 minutes, spray it off......... NICE! I'm also an advocate for using a pressure washer. Blackhat | ||

Wash it like normal.. S100 is a pretty good choice for light cleaning.. The brush with H-D Sunwash is good for a serious cleaning.. Then, once it's dry.. Pig Spit.. Spray on.. let dry.. motor looks factory new.. Great stuff.. Oh and for the plastic, I like the Harley Glaze.. easy to use, good results.. although you can probably get better with a more serious wax.. but then you have to work it more.. | ||

To eliminate water spotting, wash using any of the products you like, then get out your leaf blower to dry the engine/transmission. This really works great by getting all the water and residual soap out of all the nook and crannies!! I can't take credit for this idea, the detail guys at HD/Buell Cycle Center in Waterloo have been doing this for years... | ||

Be VERY careful with S100, it is VERY VERY corrosive and you can not rinse it too much. use lots of water. LOTS!!! | ||

Use Palmolive dishwashing liquid..safe on your hands & your bike  Just ask Madge. PS..I have tried S100 & have been less than impressed with the results. I do however love the spray Honda cleaner..that stuff rox. | ||

I just prefer to leave her dirty.... but then I am a good for nuthin lazy SOB. in the year and 8 months I have owned her I have washed it 5 times, whether it need it or not. I will admit it looks better if it is clean... but go back to the lazy thing | ||

Zipwax, sponge, pressure washer. Done in about 10 mintues. It'll dry while I ride. My leaf blower (a Lowe's brand leaf rake) leaves too many scratches Greg | ||

Of interest, soap for automatic dish washers is one of the best. Great degreasers and has a sheeting additive that prevents spotting and streaking on the finish. Is recommended and used by a lot of auto detailers. | ||

Dish soaps tend to strip wax.Its fine if your gonna wax her.I use a any good automotive soap that soaps up real good.Like Dyna I use HONDA spray polish in between wash's.That stuff cleans hand shine the best. | ||

Wouldn't know about that...Never waxed my engine and waxing the shiny surfaces only takes a few minutes. LOL Do have to agree on the Honda spray polish. A little on a rag goes a long way in the tight spots. Just looks like hell on a blacked out engine. Have been using it for about 10 years now and love it. Used Plexus and it just didn't shine up as well and you know what everyone says about Plexus...Is nothing more than "Lemon Pledge." LOL | ||

Bottle or pipe brushes, all different sizes, Get them at DIY stores. Just like HUGE Pipe Cleaners. Oh and I usually just use a washing up liquid and hot hot water. HATE doing it though, My bike aint my Baby its my Whore, I really dont care how dirty it gets as long as it keeps the grin on my face ( and the limp in my walk ) Cya Stot | ||
